tried everything - plz help!

You won't see anything from the KillBox.
You can check the log..
open up Killbox again. Click File -> Logs -> Actions History Log

We have more to do - you still have a rootkit infection and a lot files to be deleted.

Enable hidden files:
Open Windows Explorer & Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked.
Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and untick "hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK" (reverse this procedure when we are done)

Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the service called:
dsauth.exe

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok and close any open windows. If you don´t find this service listed go ahead with the next steps.



Close ALL programs down, leaving ONLY HijackThis running - Click Scan and…..
Place a check against the following items:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [AEHI] "C:\WINDOWS\system32\AEHI.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [1] "C:\WINDOWS\system32\1.exe"
O23 - Service: dsauth.exe - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dsauth.exe

Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

Delete these files if found:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\AEHI.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\1.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dsauth.exe

Open HijackThis. Click on 'Open the miscellaneous tools section'
Click on 'Delete an NT Service'
Paste in this:

dsauth.exe

and click 'OK'

Close HijackThis.

sorry this is taking up so much of your time!

i ran the Hijack this last night and deleted the 1st 2 but couldnt find this one
O23 - Service: dsauth.exe - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dsauth.exe

i deleted these 3 thru windows explorer

C:\WINDOWS\system32\AEHI.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\1.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dsauth.exe

and then the NT servive thru Hijackthis - dsauth.exe

ran the housecall but couldnt see where to save a log
it found 21 things and i cleared all - it suggested to run a 2nd time and it came up clean.

I just ran HJT and here is the log

Log looks OK, lets get the rootkit now.


Please do this:

1 >> Download - rustbfix.exe
…and save it to your desktop.
2 >> Double click on rustbfix.exe to run the tool.
If a Rustock.b-infection is found, you will shortly hereafter be asked to reboot the computer. The reboot will probably take quite a while, and perhaps 2 reboots will be needed. But this will happen automatically.
3 >> After the reboot 2 logfiles will open (%root%\avenger.txt & %root%\rustbfix\pelog.txt). If needed (still infected), post the content of these logfiles along with a new HijackThis log.

Also run ComboFix again and post that log, MrC

OK, looks like the rootkit is gone.
You'll have to give me some time to look through the ComboFix log, there's a ton of files that need to be deleted.

In the mean time - lets see if AVG AS can delete some of those files:

Please download and install the 30 day trial version of AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

After it's installed…Check for updates:
Double click on the AVG-AS icon in the system tray or on the desktop> this will bring up the main program if it's not already up.

On the Main Page click the Update Tab and then Start Update.
Download and install any updates if available.

Select the Scanner icon at the top of the screen, then select the Settings tab.
Once in the Settings screen click on Recommended actions and then select Quarantine.
Under Reports
Select Automatically generate report after every scan
Un-Select Only if threats were found

Close ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders.
Open up AVG-AS
Now click the Scanner Icon on top
Click on Complete System Scan
Be patient - it takes a while to run.

IMPORTANT! Do not save the report before you have clicked the Apply all actions button. If you do, the log that is created will indicate "No action taken", making it more difficult to interpret the report. So be sure you save it only AFTER clicking the "Apply all actions" button?

Once the scan is complete do the following:
If you have any infections you will prompted, then select Apply All Actions

Next select the Reports icon at the top.
Copy and paste the scan report in your next reply.

Close AVG-AS and Reboot in Normal Mode.

Open up SuperAntiSpyware > Preferences > General and Start-up > Start-up Options > Uncheck > Start SAS when Windows Starts.
"SAS free" provides no real time protection so there's no need for it to be running, I suggest you keep the program and update regularly - you can use it to scan for malware. It's an excellent program, When you want to start it - just double click on the SAS icon.

AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 will provide 30 days of protection and then after that you can use it as a scanner for malware - you'll have to manually update it though.

Don't open e-mail attachments without first scanning them with an up-to-date
anti virus program, even after doing that I would be very careful. Don't click on any executables in e-mails or any other links that you're not sure of.
Watch your surfing habits, don't click on or download anything you're not sure of. Don't install a program that hasn't been recommended by a reputable organization.
