In the last few days my computer has crashed 3 or 4 times and my mouse has been locking up. Below is my Hijack This log, Earlier I did a reverse DNS Lookup using ipconfig command to verify my IP address, it came back saying it couldn't be found. I'm just getting a little paranoid and want to make sure nothing bad is in my computer and you don't see anything suspicious.

If your system is crashing with a BSOD and you are getting Stop Errors, you may find the following links helpful…

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/win_xp_stop.htm

http://www.mvps.org/marksxp/WindowsXP/bsod.php

There are so many things that can cause stop errors, that without sufficient data, it's not possible to determine the cause. The information on the above sites may help you in interpreting the error message, thus leading you to a possible solution.

As far as your HijackThis log is concerned, it looks good. There are a couple of minor items you can fix, but they are not the cause of your problem…

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Also, you should update to the newest version of Java…

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update to the latest version…

Updating Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.0.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications."
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement."
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6-windows-i586.exe to install the newest version.
