Well, I've long joined the ranks of my computer going mental. I could live with the problems of being redirected on the search, but now I cannot even long on to the server in work and that is obviously a major problem. You should be able to see what it's doing here on my HijackThis long (it's the bit that says nw2.local where it's affecting it).

I have read enough here to know that the bits where the ip address is 82.255 etc is where the problem is.

However, can anyone help me get rid of this malware because to make matters worse, this is a works laptop!!

Here's the log…

can anyone help?
Hi Deeply unimpressed. I need to take some time to look over your Hijack This log to come up with a fix. Please remember that I am an undergraduate which means I need to have my posts to you checked by a teacher or moderator to make sure I'm giving you the proper instructions. This process won't take long and I thank you for your patience. I'll be back with you soon.
Hi Deeply Unimpressed. I need you to download the tool below:

http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/FindAWF.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click it to start it.

It will scan files on your C: drive and then when finished it will produce a log called awf.txt. Please post that log in your next reply.
I've downloaded that to my desktop, run it, the black DOS screen comes up… and then disappears. Searching everywhere finds no file except for one in C:/WINDOWS/Prefetch which doesn't seem to make much sense called FINDAWF.EXE-3141E80F.PF which I don't think is it.
I don't think the program ran correctly. Try this:

1. Locate the file(FindAWF.exe)
2. Right-click and select Properties
3. Select Compatibility and select Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 98/Windows ME and click OK.
4. The tool should now work.
Rerun it and it should produce the log we need to see.
Sorry Deeply unimpressed. Could you use the windows search feature and have it search for the file awf.txt.

We think it may be in there somewhere. If you don't find it let me know. If you find it please post it here.
OK, we'll worry about that program later. It's designed to find a file infector present in your log but you also have another infection we need to take care of.

Please follow the instructions below:

Step 1

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from below:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, launch Hijack This. Please click Scan, and check the following items:

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{28B18190-6FA3-43EB-A85D-F7F49EAD77D3}: Domain = nw2.local
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{71A637D8-8D1C-462B-BAC3-7E97F53DF8D5}: NameServer = 85.255.116.166,85.255.112.151
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{D2508451-535A-4E45-90CD-05B06C39D2ED}: NameServer = 85.255.116.166,85.255.112.151
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.116.166 85.255.112.151
O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.116.166 85.255.112.151
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.116.166 85.255.112.151

Click Fix Checked. Close HijackThis, and click OK to proceed.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Step 2

Go to Start > Run, enter cmd and click OK.
  • At the Dos Prompt Screen, type in cd\ and then press .
  • Now type in ipconfig /flushdns and then press . (notice the space after ipconfig)
  • Close the command prompt window.
Please go to Start -> Control Panel, and choose Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually Local Area Connection or Dial-up Connection if you are using Dial-up, and left click on properties. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio button that says Obtain DNS servers automatically. Click OK twice, and restart your computer.

Finally please post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt, along with a new HijackThis log.
Okay, I have done all of that and it seemed very easy to follow. Here's what it came up with…

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DMDCN.EXE

Jotti's will produce a small log. Post that log in your next reply.
