Hello again all, I have a problem that I once vanquished but has re-appeared. One of my laptops was popping up the message "Open file - security warning" "The publisher could not be verified . Are you sure you want to run this software?" This would happen when any .exe file was run over the network. It was specific to one user profile on the computer so I recreated it and everything was fine.' Today I discover this same person is having the problem again but only with our MRP application. Clicking run allows the program to run but I can't understand why this is comming back and it is only happening with one person. The pop-up has a red shield with a white X on it like the Windows firewall but it is turned off! I suspect this is happening when the user connects to his ISP when he is home and something is set when he is on their network. Of course the user can't tell me what he is doing to cause this. I really don't want to recreate his profile yet again just so this can happen the next time he does what ever he does. The only information I can find on this is that IE 7 has some setting that can cause this behavior and entries can be made to get around it but he still has IE 6! Any ideas? I just fixed this by adding .exe to the low risk files in gpedit.msc but I still would like to know why this started again?

Hello,

I had something similar occur and was able to resolve it by changing the Internet Options Security tab for local intranet sites. Check out the following link for some pretty good instructions:

I've found a few ways others have been able to stop it I just wonder why it starts happening.
OK, This problem is easily corrected by editing the group profile and adding .exe to low security so it does not appear but WHY does everyone in my company with a laptop now have this suddenly happening? Is this due to an update? I know IE7 will cause this but I have it without IE7. It just suddenly appears. I have noticed too that it is user specific. One user account on the computer will pop up the warning and others will not. There must be information about why this is happening, not just how to fix it.
