Welcome to the forum, you are right we have more than we can handle and we are not really here to handle computer maintenance problems or spam. I know they are busy at "Other computer problems" also so I will try to give you some advice.

Spam: http://spam.abuse.net/
This is an issue you should resolve through the use of spam filters at whoever provides your email.
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navc…G:en&q=spam
I don't think third party software is necessary if you set the spam filters (you are not going to get rid of it) and allow spam to go to the junk mail, then set it to delete the stuff on a regular basis.

I am guessing since I see MSN homepages that you use hotmail or msn email:
http://email.about.com/cs/hotmailtips/qt/et051502.htm
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navc…il+spam+filters
If you are using msn email, look under "Help & Setting" for infomation about using your spam filters.
Much of the spam occurs because we have given our email addy out to often and it winds up on a lot of spam lists. I suggest establishing a new email addy for personal email and do not use it except for that. I would give it to no one who you do not intend to correspond with.

You have some programs running you may not need at every boot, use this information to fix that, and be sure not to turn off any security programs:
http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig/

This information may help:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/commun…s/IEtopten.mspx
http://vlaurie.com/computers2/Articles/runbetter.htm
http://www.linkgrinder.com/tutorials/10_Ea…rs_article.html
http://www.techbuilder.org/recipes/59201471

I see stuff running in your services I would not have on my computer. This information may help and be very careful what you turn off:
http://vlaurie.com/computers2/Articles/services.htm

Your Java program needs an update.

this is junk and it is not speeding up your computer:
O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdocvw.dll G

I would use HJT to get rid of it and these two lines also:

Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

http://forum.malwareremoval.com/viewtopic.php?t=14

I hope that helps…thanks
pskelley, Many thanks for your advice, I have removed some stuff and it's going a little faster. You mentioned stuff that you wouldn't have on your computer!! Could you elaborate a bit so that I can remove it if necessary. Also I do not use either hotmail or msn email. Hoew do I get rid of them please. Again, thanks for your time. Glitternuts

Also I do not use either hotmail or msn email. Hoew do I get rid of them please.

Tell you what, that HJT log is from 11/25, post a new one and I will take a look.
R1's seem to all be set to MSN for start and search? That is why I assumed they were the email providers and ISP. Who is your ISP and email provider?
If you don't mind, let me have a look at your uninstall list.

Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list…" Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.

Thanks…Phil
Thanks for your prompt reply Phil. Here are the logs you asked for. My ISP and e-mail provider is Blueyonder from Telewest. Also I don't use Messenger at all.
