Hello,

I have recently bought this laptop - my first. I have no real experience with laptops. The hijackthis log shows so many (uncalled for) entries that i am thoroughly confused. The machine is a 1.7 centrino, so i expected better performance. I know i have way too many security programs installed at the moment… advise is welcome.

Hello The problems are as follows : 1. right click (context menu) on the taskbar and clicking close to close programs does not always work (only sometimes). Instead it issues this typical windows "error" sound 2. the touchpad (for the mouse) on the laptop has a scroll portion. This only works sometimes and on some programs 3. My notes folder in my documents is corrupted (get this popup from rundll32 to tell me that periodically) and chkdsk cannot lock the hdd. i schedule chkdsk run at reboot but when the system is rebooted, chkdsk is not run 4. periodically (and especially when using the stylus) the system registers mouse clicks randomly when in fact i have not clicked either using touchpad or the pen. 5. during system bootup, after putting the password has been accepted and the wallpaper has been displayed, and before the system makes that windows welcome sound and displays the taskbar and desktop icons there is about 40-60 seconds. During this time, there is no disk activity according to the hdd led. 6. sometimes (especially when there is load on the processor) the system emits the windows "error" sound periodically as when it does when some info/warning message pops up - but in this case there are no warning messages. Please help. I have backups of all the HJ changes i made since my last post. so they can be undone.
