hi here is my Hijackthis log

I suffer from this problem–
ANY google search term gets me to this sick webpage called www.btcar.com

NOT my first time with problems. I am being hijacked from Google searches that I click on. (Takes me to BTCar.com, other places) I tried following the directions from another post in the forums here,

i have noticed in my startup folder 2 things …..something called AutoTBar and something called mod_sm…..what are they and can i delete them

AutoTBar is legit but I'm not sure of the other file.

You could scan the file and post back the results:

Please go HERE. Click browse then, navigate to thie file you want to be scanned.

Then click submit.

If Jotti is too busy, you can go HERE and do the same as above.

______________________________

*Open HijackThis > choose Scan Only > Place a checkmark in the boxes beside these entries in bold.

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

Close your browsers and all open windows except for HijackThis, then click "Fix checked".

*Your Java is out of date….
Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components.
  • Click Start > Control Panel
  • Click Add/Remove Programs
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
Then download Java Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 10, and install it to your computer.

Please post back with the jotti scan results and a new HijackThis log for last checkup.
didnt need to run joti, those startup programs were no longer there…..here is hijack this log…..

Congratulations! Your log looks clean!

This is a good time to clear your existing system restore points and establish a new clean restore point:
  • Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
  • Select Create a restore point, and Ok it.
  • Next, go to Start > Run and type in cleanmgr
  • Select the More options tab
  • Choose the option to clean up system restore and OK it.

This will remove all restore points except the new one you just created.
