My computer is acting a little strange…. My dial-up connection fails intermittently, and the appearance of windows & the taskbar seems to have reverted to Windows 95? I’m concerned there may be an infection of some kind. I have run scans with; Spybot, Avast anti-virus, Ewido ant-mailware, Lavasoft Adaware and MS Windows Defender – which identified a few tracking cookies, but didn’t fix the problems I described above. system info: OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600 OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation System Manufacturer Dell Computer Corporation System Model Dimension 4600i System Type X86-based PC Processor x86 Family 15 Model 3 Stepping 4 GenuineIntel ~2992 Mhz Processor x86 Family 15 Model 3 Stepping 4 GenuineIntel ~2992 Mhz BIOS Version/Date Dell Computer Corporation A10, 5/17/2004 SMBIOS Version 2.3 Windows Directory C:\WINDOWS System Directory C:\WINDOWS\system32 Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume2 Locale United States Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)" Time Zone Eastern Standard Time Total Physical Memory 1,024.00 MB Available Physical Memory 382.62 MB Total Virtual Memory 2.00 GB Available Virtual Memory 1.96 GB Page File Space 2.40 GB Page File C:\pagefile.sys
