do you want to leave it a day or two, and post back if your computer's still behaving ok (just to make sure we've pinned down the bug)?
for the time being, please dont uninstall HijackThis, as you'll probably want to restore the two items from hijackthis's backup and remove them properly via add/remove.

It was good for a day and now back to the same thing. When shutting down it had a new message on a pop up window saying "MCIcommand handling window” and gave me the option to end task or wait to shut itself down. Not sure what is going on with this thing.
