Hello yjduff, and welcome to TomCoyote forums. I'm dak, and I'll be helping you to fix your computer. I'm sorry for the delay in replying to your log. If you still require assistance, please do the following: run HijackThis and click on the "Open the misc tools section". Next, Click on "open uninstall manager" Then Click "save list". This should create a log called "uninstall_list.txt". Please post the contents of "uninstall_list.txt", along with a new HijackThis log, as a reply to this thread.

  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:

  • Scan Options:
  • –Scan Archives
  • –Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:

  • This will program will start and scan your system.

  • Now click on the Save as Text button:

have you installed any new programs lately? also, have you updated mcafee recently?

I haven't downloaded any new programs recently, not sure if the wife did? I have McAfee set on auto update. Would it be better if I just manually go in and update it? Thanks for the prompt feedback and the help.

I have McAfee set on auto update. Would it be better if I just manually go in and update it?


no, the auto-updates are fine :)

OK, just to eliminate the possibility of malware, could you please do one more scan:

First download AVG anti-spyware from here and save that file to your
desktop.
This is a 30 day trial of the program

1. Once you have downloaded it, locate the icon on the desktop
and double-click it to launch the set up program.
2. Once the setup is complete you will need run AVG-antispyware and update the definition
files.
3. On the main screen select the icon "Update" then select the "
Update now" link.
* Next select the "Start Update" button, the update will start and a
progress bar will show the updates being installed.
4. Once the update has completed select the "Scanner" icon at the top of
the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
5. Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then
select "Quarantine".
6. Under "Reports"
* Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
* Un-Select "Only if threats were found"

Close AVG anti-spyware, Do Not run a scan just yet, we will shortly.

1. Reboot your computer into SafeMode. You can do this by restarting
your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears.

Use your up arrow key to highlight SafeMode then hit enter.
IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or
programs while AVG is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning proccess:
2. Lauch AVG-anti-spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
3. Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab
then click on "Complete System Scan".
4. AVG will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little
time.
Once the scan is complete do the following:
5. If you have any infections you will prompted, then select "Apply all
actions"
6. Next select the "Reports" icon at the top.
7. Select the "Save report as" button in the lower left hand of the
screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where
you saved that file, this is important).
8. Close AVG and reboot your system back into Normal Mode and post the
results of the AVG report scan and a new hijackthis log please.

No problem…When it shuts down it takes a while and says trying to "close windows forms parking window" and towards the end of the shut down it has a quick message about the memory with alot of numbers and letters? Slowness is the main problem, starting up, shutting down and going from program to program. Hopefully we can get something to work. ok, a little more intel-gathering, methinks :)

When it shuts down it takes a while and says trying to "close windows forms parking window"


i doubt it, but is windows conveniently giving you the name of any program with this error message?

or is it just saying "windows forms parking windows"?

and towards the end of the shut down it has a quick message about the memory with alot of numbers and letters?


to clarify: is this a blue-screen-of-death, or a normal window? (ie, does your screen go all blue, give you this message, and then your computer dies, or does it just pop up a message?).

also, does this happen every time that you shut down, or just occasionally?

Slowness is the main problem, starting up, shutting down and going from program to program.

if it was sudden and recent, could you ask your wife if she installed anything recently?

It just inconveniently says "windowsformsparkingwindows".

It's a black background towards the end of the shut down and really quick. It just shows up as a pop up message.

It is sudden and recent…She installed a motorrola program to communicate with the computer to the cell phone. "mobile phone tools" is the program. That was the only change recently.

try pressing ctrl+alt+delete to bring up the task manager, click on the processes tab, find 'dlg.exe', right-click on it and select 'end process'. does that make the problem go away?

if not, try going to start > settings > control pannel > add/remove, and uninstall mobile PhoneTools

i used to have the program on my computer… if i remember correctly, it should ask you if you want to completely remove it, or partially uninstall it – choose partial uninstall, and it should leave your phonebook entries etc on the computer (ie, so you can reinstall it and still have all your phone book entries, messages etc without having to set it up again)

if that doesn't work either: i see you have ccleaner installed; try running it to remove your temp files.

if none of them work, then tell me, and we can try something else.

Sorry about the late reply…I went ahead and did all those recommendations and it still is acting the same. Only difference so far is on the shut down the memory pop up didn't show. Thanks for your patience, it's been really busy around here.

Hi. sorry i took so long to reply – something came up :(

OK, as per the suggestions of another member of staff:

how much ram do you have, and how large is your page file?

if you dont know:

to find out how much ram you have, go to start > run, and type in dxdiag. it should say something like memory: xxxMB RAM

to find out how large your page file is: go to start > settings > control pannel > system > click on the 'advanced' tab, and, under performance, click 'settings'. click on the 'advanced' tab of the new window that's opened, and, under 'virtual memory' click on 'change' (phew).

tell me wether 'custom size', 'system managed size', or 'no page file' is checked, and also what it says under 'currently allocated'.

hmm… then press ctrl+alt+del, click on the 'performance' tab, and find the box on the left that's labeled 'PF Usage', and tell me the number that's in the box please.

No worries…I just got back from vacation… Memory: 510 MB RAM Page File: Custom sized, initial size 768 MB and Maximum size 1536 MB-currently allocated 768 MB PF Usage is 651 MB I hope these numbers help, let me know if you need anything else. Thanks

ok, hp stuff can cause formparking errors, so try this: run hijackthis, and, with all other windows closed, check the following two items: O2 - BHO: DriveLetterAccess - {5CA3D70E-1895-11CF-8E15-001234567890} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswshx.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dla] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswctrl.exe click 'fix selected', and then reboot. have a play about with your computer: does that fix the problem? if not, reboot into safemode (continually poke F8 whilst your computer is booting, and select 'safemode' in the menu that comes up), and tell me if the problem is still there in safemode.
