Hi juiceman2009.

welcome to the Tom Coyote Forum.
My name is mschroe919 and I would like to help.
We have to move your HJTY to a stand alone folder.

NOTICE:
Before you post a HJT log, you are running from a TEMP folder. When we use HJT to fix anything it makes a back up in case something goes wrong. In the Temp folder you can't get to the back up.
Move HJT here: C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe. If you need more instructions use these:
http://russelltexas.com/malware/createhjtfolder.htm

Make sure you remove the temp one.

once this is done post me another HJT log.
good luck mschroe919
Problems were first noticed with Winantivirus. I had the dayam'est time trying to download Hjt, Panda,A2 and
Trojan Hunter. It was blocking my access to the web pages. After useing Spybot Register log to see changes and correcting them, and doing some scans in safe mode, here we are

Hi juiceman2009

welcome back to the TC Forums.

I have read your log. Let me suggest you copy and paste these instructions into word pad, and print it out so you can follow the steps in order.
Please read through this post since I am asking you to download specific software to assist you.

good luck
mschroe919

NOTE:
Some security programs with active monitoring processes are known to interfere with automatic scanners and can actually prevent HJT fixes from taking effect.

Please turn off or disable any of the following program you may have, before running your preliminary scans and for the duration of your HJT cleanup (should you post a log).

TrojanHunter Guard

1. Disable TrojanHunter Guard by right clicking on the icon in your System Tray.
2. Make sure that the program, TrojanHunter itself, is also closed/not running.
_____________________________________________________

FIRST:

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip
Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.

NEXT:

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd

[external image: Posted Image]

Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter

[external image: Posted Image]

This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

NEXT:

Please post:

The c:\rapport.txt report
and a new HJT log

There will be more to do when I see the SmitFraud report& HJT log

PS

If your not sure of something please ask before you do something if you don't uinderstand it.

Good luck
mschroe919
As you requested:

HI juiceman2009,
Welcome back to the forum. Looks like the log is getting better. Just a little more wor to do.

FIRST:

Navigate to the following and delete the file in RED Be sure only the one in red.

C:\Documents and Settings\shmee\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\VirusBurster 6.2.lnk

Also
I tell people that "Viewpoint Manager" is considered to be "spyware" by some, and that it can be removed via "Add/Remove Programs".

Viewpoint is optional based on this information: - automatic updates for ViewPoint products such as ViewPoint Media Player (as bundled with AOL, AOL Instant Messenger, Compuserve, etc). Can be run manually via Start -> Settings -> Control Panel by enabling auto-updates temporarily, re-booting and then disabling again. Not recommended. Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This may change in 2006 read this http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546

When this is done post back as to how your PC is behaving now, there will be a little more to do.
Good luck mschroe919
Computer has been running fine since I deleted files (that were IDed by various scans and made register changes the other day. I just wanted to make sure I got all rements of this carp** though, which is why I contacted you. When I deleted the file you asked the computer said it was a short cut only?. Also I have deleted viewpoint in the past but then discovered I had programs that wouldn't run. Don't remember what they were though.

====================================================================

Use an Anti Virus Software
It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future. See these links for a listing of some on line & their stand-alone anti virus programs:
If you don't have one here are some of the better AV products.

Symantec/Norton Antivirus: http://www.symantec.com/nav/nav_9xnt/
Kapersky AV: http://www.kaspersky.com/buyonline.html?info=25
Nod32 : http://www.nod32.com/home/home.htm
Panda AV: http://www.pandasoftware.com/
McAfee Virusscan: http://us.mcafee.com/root/package.asp?pkgid=100
AVG Anti-Virus (Free version available) http://www.grisoft.com/

Update your Anti Virus Software - It is imperitive that you update your Anti virus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your anti virus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.
============================================================
NEXT:

Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is susceptible to being hacked and taken over. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.
If you don't have one see link below for a free firewall:

ZoneAlarm:
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/cata….jsp?lid=nav_za

Sunbelt Kerio:

================================================================================

Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option.

This will provide real-time spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an anti virus software

Get the download and tutorial for Spybot S&D here:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial43.html
=========================================================================

Install Ad-Aware
Install and download Ad-Aware. You should also scan your computer with the program on a regular basis just as you would an anti virus software in conjunction with Spybot. The download and tutorial on installing & using Ad-aware can be found here:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial48.html

====================================================================

Install SpywareBlaster
SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs. A article on anti-malware products with links for this program and others can be found here:

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
========================================================================

Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.

Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.
Happy surfing the net

I only ask one thing….please
Please post back and let us know what you think about our forum, we are all volunteers and would like a little smile.
