Where did I pick this up?

Okay I admit I have gone to a couple of seedy corners, but I try to keep my nose clean. My son doesn't visit the same corners, but he is 14 and so he frequents on line radio sites, does a million searches for lyrics to his favorite songs. Somewhere along the line we picked up a Pipas A. trojan. I posted a HJT log 3 days ago, but no answers so far. But after doing my best to clean up Microsoft found nothing, nor did Norton, or Adaware. Spybot picked up the Pipas A. I asked it to remove it and I haven't tested it yet. From what I understand though it's a toughie to get rid of! If it doesn't work I will post an up to date HJT log with this info. Assuming we can rid ourselves of this menace, how can I ensure I don't get it again? Any thoughts would be greatly apprciated. By the way, just a thought… if spyware, malware etc is designed to redirect us to other websites, log our preferences then why would they wreak so much havoc forcing us to get rid of them? I would think they would want to be as innocuous as possible so as not to be detected.
Micah, thank you for the quick reply. I printed the instructions and can't wait to get home and give this a shot! Any thoughts though on this particular trojan? I am tempted to think it came from one of these lyrics sites. I have gone to them on occasion and they seem to bombard you as soon as you open them with a barrage of "stuff".
