Hello all, and thank you for being here and for the service you are providing. I hope you can help me. I have run Adaware and Spybot and CWShredder, Microsoft etc. The computer seems better but thre is one last issue that nags me to distraction! When I do a Google search, if I click on the link often times it will take me to a "competitors" link. This seems to be one bug I can't seem to get rid of! I ran Hijack This and here's my log.

Welcome to the forum :wavey:

Please download FixWareout from one of these links:
Fixwareout.exe
Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{A17B72F0-1C11-4370-9984-0FE35A5C42FF}: NameServer = 85.255.114.55,85.255.112.21

O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.114.55 85.255.112.21

O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.114.55 85.255.112.21

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.114.55 85.255.112.21

Then click "Fix checked" and close Hijack This!.

* Run Fixwareout on the desktop.
* Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
* The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
* You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
* Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
* Once the desktop loads a text will open (report.txt). We'll need that in a bit.

"Copy/paste" a new HijackThis! log file into this thread.

Also open this file with Notepad:

C:\fixwareout\report.txt

And paste it's contents into your next post.

:)
Well I am afraid I had troubles. All went well until it rebooted and then the BFU locked up and was "not responding". I waited awhile and closed it. I ran the Hijack this and here's the log file:

I eagerly await your response.
Thanks again.

PS I just did a check on how things were responding and I will say that things seem much better. My searches don't appear to be getting hijacked and things do open up quicker.
Still I await instructions on my next move.
CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

O16 - DPF: {9522B3FB-7A2B-4646-8AF6-36E7F593073C} (cpbrkpie Control) - http://a19.g.akamai.net/7/19/7125/4056/ftp…02/cpbrkpie.cab

Then click "Fix checked" and close Hijack This!.

Delete this file (if found):

C:\WINDOWS\System32\dmtbz.exe

That should do it.

Everything running OK?
