This is becoming a major nuisance and keeps me from using the Internet. Since I work in education, and do a lot of work at home, this is becoming a real issue in my life. I have a rather long Hijack This file pasted below, and can say that we have identified one culprit. It is the BHO with {no name} that points to a System32 driver named dpn852.dll. I tried to delete the file in safe mode and with Hijack but it would not let me, so I know there are other programs running. This file is suspicious because it was created the afternoon before the first infection of wnfixer.

Here's my Hijack file, please help!!!

Download VundoFix.exe to your desktop from here:

VundoFix.exe

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

1. Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
2. Click the Scan for Vundo button.
3. Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
4. If it doesn't find anything, in the main program window, choose "Add more files?".
Type the next line into the box EXACTLY AS SHOWN:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\dpn852.dll

Click Close Window, then Remove Vundo.

5. You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES.
6. Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
7. When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
8. Turn your computer back on.

Post a new HijackThis! log, along with the contents of this file:

C:\vundofix.txt

into this thread.
:)
I downloaded Vundofix and followed your directions; I was able to add the dpn858.dll and delete it on the second attempt. Below are the new Hijack file and Vundo text file. Should I go ahead and delete the O2 BHO {no name} with Hijack? There is no dll file for it now. I really, really do appreciate your help. I was so afraid to do any on-line work for my students because of this problem. If you have any more advice, I am all ears!!

Just a little cleanup left…

Disable Microsoft Windows Defender:
We need to disable your Microsoft Windows Defender Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
  • Open Microsoft Windows Defender. Click Start, Programs, Windows Defender
  • Click on Tools, General Settings.
  • Under Real-time protection options, unselect the Turn on real-time protection check box
  • Click Save
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {188AED32-72C7-4B30-B1D4-9B69588DAD7A} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dpn852.dll (file missing)

Then click "Fix checked" and close Hijack This!.

Reboot.

If you have any more advice, I am all ears!!
