browser page hijacks

hope someone can help with this. I have been having my browser page hijacked to a "page cannot be displayed" , with a list of advertising links in blue. having sponsored ad pages pop up as well. adawarw has found a few IEHijackers, and several tracking cookies. im also running Defender Pro, which is doing a fine job of finding nothing at all! heres my HJT log:

i forgot to ad that the tracking cookies and the IEHijacker keep coming back.sometimes adaware finds 3 of them, i remove them, browse for an hour, run another scan, theres more. im pulling what little hair i have left out! :angry:

my computer is running real slow as its loading the desktop after rebooting. my home page hasnt changed, but my browser page keeps changing to the same "page cannot be displayed" page with all the website links. just as soon as i remove whatever my adware finds, theres more in its place. i did what someone in another thread was told to do with ewido and hijack this, here are the logs.

Sorry to keep you waiting.. I think because you have answered you own thread this may have gave the impression that you were being help.

Copy and Paste this post into a new text document or print it out for reference.

Step 1

Ensure that this system is running only One Firewall and One Anti-virus program
Go to Start | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs and uninstall those you wish to remove
please note - running more than one of each with use serious CPU resourse.


You also seem to be running quite a few Anti-Spyware programs again using up CPU resourse

Please let me know your choice on these…

Then Reboot your system.



Please Re-Scan with HijackThis and place a "checkmark" next to these entries:

Step 2

Please Reboot your System into Safe Mode
Shut down your system, then Restart your computer as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8 from the menu select the option to enter "Safe Mode".

Now Hold Down The Windows Key + E to Open Windows Explorer,
Navigate to then Right Click on and Delete these BoldFolder:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\SearchTool


* Clean your Cache and Cookies in IE:
  • Close all instances of Outlook Express and Internet Explorer
  • Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > General tab
  • Click the "Delete Cookies" button
  • Next to it, Click the "Delete Files" button
  • When prompted, place a check in: "Delete all offline content", click OK
Clean other Temporary files + Recycle bin:
  • Go to start > run and type: cleanmgr and click ok.
  • Let it scan your system for files to remove.
  • Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
  • Press OK to remove them.

Can you please Stay in Safe Mode and now Run the Ewido software
When the scan completes, click "Recommended action" beneath the results window and select "Quarantine".
Then click the "Apply all actions" button to quarantine everything detected.
Then click Save report > Save report as and save the Report-Scan.txt to your desktop.

Then Reboot back into Normal Mode.


Step 3

Please Update your Sun Java console - You must Uninstall All old versions of Java first as they are a security threat if left installed. Close any programmes you may have running, ESPECIALLY your web browser. Then using Add/Remove Select any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in the name and uninstall.

Then Reboot your computer…

Now CLICK HERE select the Download button next to "J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 8"

the hijacking has stopped, but i am still getting some pop ups from a few sites.i installed zone alarm firewall, wasnt able to figure out how to remove the windows firewall, but i did turn it off. she still seems to be running slower than she used too, but im more concerned with the pop ups. thanks again for your help….you made it very easy to deal with. I dont use credit cards, but i will however make it a point to send a money order donation to you fella's soon! if you need another scan report, you wont have to ask for it twice! thanks again willy! :thumbup:

No need for any donation but thank's for the kind offer, to try an get things running a little smoother try

Using CCleaner
http://www.ccleaner.com/download128.asp
Double click on the file to start the installation of the program.
Select your language and click "OK", then next.
Read the license agreement and click "I Agree".
Click next to use the default install location. Click Install then finish to complete installation.
"Double click" the CCleaner shortcut on the desktop to start the program.
Click "Run Cleaner" to run the program.
Caution: It is not recommended to use the 'Issues' tab as it allegedly find's legitimate items. After it has completed it's process, click Exit.


Then Shut down your system, Now Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8.
A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode
then Defragment your system for overall improvement
Reboot back into Normal mode once this has finished


You can also try installing StartUp Inspector.
Open the program and select Consult and allow internet access, This program will show a listing
which also gives an icon rating to help you decide what is required when your system starts.

After this please post a new HijackThis log
