Trojan.Linkoptimizer

Norton Anti-Virus has continually popped up a detection notice, detecting Trojan.Linkoptimizer in the file C:\WINDOWS\System32\com8.ukv. It's unable to quarantine.

I have Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware, SpySweeper, SpyWareBlaster - all up to date and scanned. SpySweeper detected a linkoptimizer trojan, and said it quarantined the file, which I deleted, but the Norton alert keeps popping up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's my HJT file with all programs closed.
Thanks.

While the Norton AV alert has stopped popping up, and SpySweeper hasn't detected the trojan again, I'm still observing some erratic behavior, which was what alerted me to the fact that I had an infection in the first place:

really long bootup times (long time for system tray items to load)
really long shutdown times (sometimes the system freezes without actually shutting down)
itunes crashing randomly or stopping playback
firefox crashing frequently

is this the trojan, or something entirely different?

thanks for sticking with this!
First of all I need you to download some programs for use later.

1.) Download About:Buster from here. Once it is downloaded extract it to c:\aboutbuster . Do NOT use it yet

I don't think I can post the ewido log - it's 87 pages long. No joke. It consists almost entirely of cookies from the norton protected recycle bin.

I'll post again asap and let you know how the comp is running. thanks
Hi, I apologize for the long delay in responding. We just had a 5 day power outage. I'll try my best to post back within 48 hours. Thank you for your understanding.
It's all good. Since your last fix, my computer's been totally problem free. Something in all that did it. I hope the power outage problem works out.
Hi, With Ewido 4, if you click on the Infections icon, then it will show you all the items in Quarrantine and you can remove them that way. Just click Select All (if all of the items in quarrantine need removing) then Remove Finally. Then, please run Ewido again and post the log along with a new Hijackthis log.
