Hi darbs,

Rescan with HJT, check these items:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Firewall.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\Firewall.exe

Close all browser windows and any other open windows, except HJT then click "fix checked".
Exit HJT

Show Hidden Files and Folders
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Reboot into safe mode:
Restart the computer
Immediately begin gently tapping the key.
Use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode and press the key.


Using Windows Explorer, navigate to and delete these files if found:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\Firewall.exe

C:\WINDOWS\system32\WinSecure.006
C:\WINDOWS\system32\WinSecure.007
C:\WINDOWS\system32\WinSecure.004

Reboot, restart your machine normally.

Your Java is out of date and you need to update it.

Update Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on the
    Software icon > add/remove programs.
  • Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Java.
    (J2SE Runtime Environment…. )

    It should have this icon next to it:
    [external image: Posted Image]
    Select it and click Remove.
  • Then Download and install the newest version Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9
    from here:http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
Reboot after doing the above and defrag!

Also, I did not have these: C:\WINDOWS\system32\WinSecure.006 C:\WINDOWS\system32\WinSecure.007 C:\WINDOWS\system32\WinSecure.004 But I did have these: C:\WINDOWS\system32\WinSecure.001 C:\WINDOWS\system32\WinSecure.002 C:\WINDOWS\system32\WinSecure.005 and deleted them. and I couldn't find Java 5.0 Update 9 so I updated to Java 5.0 update 6. I hope there isn't any issue with that. Thanks again, Darbs

I want you to to click on that update –> (JRE) 5.0 Update 9 and install it.
Then uninstall any other older versions of Java…including JRE 1.5.0 update 6

Reboot. :)

Oboy, am I ever late getting back to you :oops: I apologize!

Your last log looks good. Let me know if you are experiencing any problems before we do this final clean up.

1. Reset your restore points.

Click Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > SystemRestore

Press OK. Choose 'Create a Restore Point' then Next. Name it and press
'Create' then when the confirmation screen shows the restore point has been
created click 'Close'

2. Next goto Start Menu > Run > type

cleanmgr

click OK, when Disk Cleanup opens goto the 'More Options' tab and press
'Cleanup' on the system restore area which will remove all the restore
points except the one we just created. To close Disk Cleanup and remove the
Temporary Internet Files detected in the initial scan click OK then choose
Yes on the confirmation window.

3. DEFRAG!

4. Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This
can be done by following these simple instructions:
  • From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then
    click on Options.
  • Click once on the Security tab
  • Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
  • Click once on the Custom Level button.
  • Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
  • Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
  • Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as
    safe     to Disable
  • Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
  • Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to
    Prompt
  • Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to
    Prompt
  • When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
  • If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings,
    press the Yes button.
  • Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the
    Internet Properties page.
