A few weeks ago I received help from this site to remove malware. The removal was successful; however after down loading suggested software my computer would take forever to boot and then run extremely slow.
I uninstalled most of the added software and things improved. Now when changing from one (any) operation to another the computer does a search. I also tried to reboot from a previos date and recieved a message "cannot restart from another date dll's error" or simular. So I believe the missing dll's are the issue. I'm planning to wipe my hard drive clean and reload windows xp. Does this seem logical? Can I save to a disk all the updates for windows xp, quicken 2005 and others and run them to up date the fresh rebooted hard drive? An expert opion is greatly appreciated. I don't want to turn on this computer because it only creates frustration. Is there printable direction on the correct way to do the above.
Thank you. bobr
ps. I may be slow to reply due to the computer situation
