WonderZ, :D

Welcome to the forum. One of the reasons you are so infected is because you have no windows service packs installed that you download free from Microsoft via the windows update feature. There are two reasons for not having these updates , one is because you may not be aware of the importance of keeping your Operating System up todate, the second being that your copy of windows is illegal and you can not get the updates. Lets hope its not the later because if we clean you up, your just going to keep getting infected over and over again.

These are two Rogue spyware programs that are at the heart of your problems, try removing them via the Add-Remove programs in the Control Panel.

You have a few different infections on your system, lets attack the Vundo infection first and go from there.

Please download
VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

WonderZ,

Vundo is still present, lets run it again. You need to follow the instructions, I needed to see the Vundofix log and you did not post it.

You may want to print out all the instructions as we will be offline during part of the fix.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

Open HJT Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows, check these and click on Fix Checked

Thanks for your help this far. I have not been able to run safe mode though. When I boot up in safe mode an error pops up for a split second and then it sits on a black screen that never goes away… I think I'll give up on this old computer. Thanks again… I appreciate your time and effort!
Do you have your windows CD? if so , you can try running these programs.

  • Click Start>Run
  • Type in sfc /scannow, hit Enter.
  • Note: there is a space between sfc and /scannow
  • This should replace any corrupted/missing system files and will hopefully fix things.
You may need your XP disc in your CD drive for this.

If that didnt help, you can try a windows repair by booting from the CD, it will take you to the Recovery Console and press R for repair.

Then try running this programs in Safemode.

Please start by downloading VirtumondoBegone to your desktop.
  • Reboot your computer into Safemode
  • Go to START/ SHUT OF YOUR COMPUTER/ RESTART
  • As the computer starts to boot-up, Tap the F8 KEY somewhat rapidly,
this will bring up a menu.
  • Use the UP AND DOWN ARROW KEYS to scroll up to SAFEMODE
  • Then press the ENTER KEY ON YOUR KEYBOARD
  • Doubleclick on VirtumundoBeGone.exe and follow the instructions.
  • Do not worry if you see a BLUE SCREEN "Fatal Error" Message, it is normal and expected.
  • When it has finished, reboot and post the log that is created on your desktop called VBG.TXT in your next reply.

Also post a new HJT log.
