Hi there,
I've got now the following problem: whenever I want to open a webpage it either doesn't or it takes a very long time (both on ie explorer and firefox). I have a dsl connection and no problems until now. haven't changed anything on the system before the problem started. hardware seems to be okay, dsl line also says my provider. download speeds with bittorrent are still perfect, other programs using the internet as skype also without problems.
Here's my hijackthis-logfile:

Any answer will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Hope you guys can help me.
Well, it's not really a reply, it's an addon. In the logfile I noticed 3 entries of Forceware…….just wondering what this is. Has this to do with my web page problems? Pls help, maybe somebody has a solution for me. I am really desperate because I am not willing to uninstall and reinstall my whole system yet. I hope I can find another way to cure my buddy here.
jaslove :D

Welcome to the forum, sorry for the delay, more logs than we have people to fix them :(

nSvcLog.exe is related to NVIDIA ForceWare Network Access Manager or NVIDIA nSvcIp by NVIDIA Corporation (www.nvidia.com).

Dont know exactly what you installed to have this running, looks like its for your video card. do you know if your problem started after this was installed.

http://www.nvidia.com/page/home.html <– More info on it.

Your log basically looks ok, we can run a few scans to make sure there is nothing hidden that is not showing up on your HJT log.

Download and install the 30 day trial of Ewido Anti Spyware to your desktop.
  • Once you have downloaded Ewido Anti-Spyware, locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.
  • Once the setup is complete you will need run Ewido and update the definition files.
  • On the main screen select the icon Update then select the Update now link.
  • Next select the Start Update button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  • Once the update has completed select the Scanner icon at the top of the screen, then select the Settings tab.
  • Once in the Settings screen click on Recommended actions and then select Quarantine <– Dont forget this
  • Under Reports
  • Select Automatically generate report after every scan
  • Un-Select Only if threats were found
  • Close Ewido Anti-Spyware <– Do not run the scan yet.
Boot your computer into Safemode
  • Go to Start> Shut Off your Computer> Restart
  • As the computer starts to boot-up, Tap the F8 KEY somewhat rapidly.
  • This will bring up a menu.
  • Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to scroll up to SAFEMODE
  • Then press the Enter on your Keyboard
IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while ewido is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning process:
  • Launch Ewido-Anti-Spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
  • Select the Scanner icon at the top and then the Scan tab then click on Complete System Scan.
  • Ewido will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
  • Once the scan is complete do the following:
  • If you have any infections you will prompted, then select Apply all actions
  • Next select the Reports icon at the top.
  • Select the Save report as button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system
  • make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important
  • Close Ewido and boot up normally

Run this system cleaner

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
  • This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.

Lets run a quick repair of IE.
  • Click Start>Run
  • Type in sfc /scannow, hit Enter.
  • Note: there is a space between sfc and /scannow
  • This should replace any corrupted/missing system files and will hopefully fix things.
You may need your XP disc in your CD drive for this.

Let me see the Ewido Report and a new HJT log and let me know if any of this helped.
At first thank you Ken for your help. Have to say it wasn't successful yet, but maybe the logfiles will help you finding a solution. I ran the ewido-scan and you'll find the log underneath. After that I downloaded the ATF Cleaner but after I click the EMPTY SELECTED-Button the prog froze. Nothing happened anymore. Then I tried to repair the IE but I always got the message to insert the WIN XP PROF.-CD which I don't have because I have the HOME-Version installed. And considering this for me unknown Forceware-thing I think it's because I have an Asus-Motherboard with NVidia-Chipset installed and this I have now for 2 years and no problems with it. So that won't cause it I guess. Anyway, here the ewido-logfile:

Hope this will help!
jaslove,

Thanks for the translation :D Doing what I do I answer logs from all over the world.

* Ewido basically came up clean, no malware on it at all, just a few cookies.

* If that program came with your asus motherboard than I wouldnt worry about it.

Try this other cleaner, if it works or does not work, do the following, your system may just need a good flushing out.

If you don't want the Yahoo Toolbar, be sure to uncheck it during installation
Download and Install CCleaner
* Click on Run Cleaner
Tutorial for CCleaner

This will clean out all your Temp files and Temporary Internet Files and your Prefetch folder.

* Clean out your TEMP FILES
* This procedure should be run from SAFEMODE for better results.

To Enter SAFEMODE

* Go to START/ SHUT OF YOUR COMPUTER/ RESTART
* As the computer starts to boot-up, Tap the F8 KEY somewhat rapidly, this will bring up a menu.
* Use the UP AND DOWN ARROW KEYS to scroll up to SAFEMODE
* Then press the ENTER KEY ON YOUR KEYBOARD

* Go to My Computer/ C: Drive/ Documents and Settings/ Every User on this Computer Local Settings
and delete all the contents of the Temp Folder and the Temporary Internet Files Folder <–Just the contents, not the folder itself.

* Go to My Computer/ C:/ Windows/ Temp and delete all the contents of the Temp Folder <– But not the temp folder itself.

* Go to My Computer/ C:/ Windows/ Prefetch and remove all the contents of the Prefetch Folder. <–But not the Prefetch folder itself.

NOW RE-BOOT NORMALLY

* Open INTERNET EXPLORER
* Click on the TOOLS MENU
* Then INTERNET OPTIONS
* At the GENERAL TAB (which should be the first tab you are currently on),
* click on the DELETE FILES BUTTON and put a checkmark in DELETE ALL OFFLINE CONTENT.
* Then press the OK BUTTON . This may take quite a while, so do not be alarmed with how long it takes.
* When it is done, your Temporary Internet Files will now be deleted.

Now Empty your Recycle Bin

Then when your done, run this quick scan, it may show bad files if there hidding.
Download and Save Blacklight to your desktop:
  • Double-click blbeta.exe
  • Then accept the agreement
  • leave [X]scan through Windows Explorer checked.
  • Click > scan then > next
  • You'll see a list of all items found. There will also be a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx stand for numbers).
  • Copy and paste this log in your next reply.
  • Don't choose the rename option yet! I want to see the log first, because legitimate items can also be present there, such as "wbemtest.exe"
Post the Blacklight log and a new HJT log.
Well Ken, here's the actual status:

I've been using ccleaner already since quite a time and as you suggested I have run it in Safe-Mode also. After that I've cleaned all suggested temp files in Safe Mode and emptied the trash bin. After downloading blacklight and starting it I got the following message:

F Secure Blacklight could not aquire necessary privileges (SeDebugPrivilege)

So I couldn't do a scan with blacklight. Months ago I used an earlier version of blacklight and it was running perfectly so I wonder why now this privilege cannot be aquired.

Here again a new hjt-log:

Hope maybe the incident with blacklight gives you a hint. Thanks again for helping.
No always but sometimes it takes a couple of tries to run Blacklight, delete or uninstall any instances of previous versions and also the current one and download a fresh copy and try running it again. Ken :D
Sorry Ken, I've deleted, downloaded and installed again blacklight but still it cannot aquire the privilege. I even tried it in Safe Mode just to get to know that blacklight cannot be run in safe mode. I also tried it in the user account of my wife but still there the same problem. Even the command line version of blacklight is giving me the same message. Maybe you have a solution how to give this privilege to blacklight?
jaslove,

Ewido came up clean and your log looks ok, this may be a windows issue. Here is another program that will scan for Rootkits and see if something is hidden on your system.

Downloading
  • Surf to: Sophos free tools: Anti-Rootkit
  • Click the "Download" button
  • Read the conditions and fill out your Details.
  • Click the Download Sophos Anti-Rootkit link.
  • Save the sarsfx.exe to location on your harddrive where you can find it later on.
Installing
  • Close as many applications as possible and execute sarsfx.exe by doubleclicking it.
  • Accept the EULA and install the software to the loaction of your choice.(Default is C:\SOPHTEMP)

You can read the Tutorial it will give you all the instructions, be sure to follow them to the letter. Its in the Adobe format, if you need the free Adobe Reader, you can download it Here

If this does not find anything bad, then I can direct you to some windows support sites that deal with this sort of issue.
hi ken…..i ran the sophos anti roolkit and in the beginning it also said that the sedebugprivilege couldn't be accessed which may cause the results of the scan to be wrong. nonetheless i did the scan and it did'nt find anything bad in my system. i really appreciate all of your help, must be a hard case for you. anyway, would be nice if you could direct me then to some support sited which are dealing with my issue. but somehow i lost hope already and i guess i have to reinstall the whole win xp which is very time consuming. but i think there's nothing else i can do and there's little chance that i find a solution. okay, thanks again for all your efforts.
jaslove

We can try running Blacklight from a command prompt.

From a command Prompt

Please download F-Secure Blacklight (blbeta.exe) and save to your C:\ drive.
1. Open a command window by going to Start > Run and typing: cmd
2. Copy/paste or type the following in the command window:

C:\blbeta.exe /expert

3. Hit "Enter" to start the program and then close the cmd box.
4. Accept the user agreement and click "Next".
5 Click "Scan".
6. After the scan is complete, click "Next", then "Exit". BlackLight will create a log in C:\ drive named "fsbl-xxxxxxx.log" (the xxxxxxx will be the date and time of the scan).
7. The log will have a list of all items found. Do not choose to rename any yet! I want to see the log first because legitimate items can also be present.
8. Exit Blacklight and post the contents of the log in your next reply.

If you get Blacklight to work, let me know if it found anything, if not here a some windows links to read and some windows support forums.
