Hi Siggyx,

I tried the above tool but that didn't find any infected files either. I ran it in both 'normal' and 'safe' mode. I decided to go into the registry (dangerous I know) and manually remove entries for the offending files. This seems to have got rid of them?

I've ran NoAdware a couple of times and I'm still getting a reference for CoolWebSearch.GonnaSearch (type: Directory) showing up in the scan. I click remove and it removes it, but as soon as I re-scan it's back again. I tried looking in the folder (C:\ProgramFiles\internet explorer\toolbar) it's supposed to be in but there is no reference to it in the folder.

I'm also still being bugged by the dial-up connection box continually opening and asking me to connect, (like every 2 minutes or so).

I've also just lost my Taskbar?
The bar along the bottom of the screen where START etc is has just dissapeared after posting this post…Any Ideas?

I've reposted the latest hijackthis.log below.

Hi Siggyx,

Forget the above post.

This is getting very frustrating. None of these programs can find any infected files. I thought I had 'cracked it' by removing suspicious entries manually. I was wrong.

It seems that EVERY single time we manage to get rid of files related to this Trojan they just keep re-writing themselves as another name. It seems also that the part we have to try and stop running is the CreateProtectProc rerun in the rundll32.exe.
As soon as I had posted my last hijackthis.log with the suspicious entries seemingly gone, I disconnected from the Internet and re-ran hijackthis and the highlighted entries below have 're-appeared' with 'New' names.

I also tried killing the 'suspect' files in the process manager of hijackthis. I don't know if I did the right thing or not but I killed (stopped the processes) rundll.exe and rundll.32.exe, then deleted the suspicious entries again. After a couple of fatal exceptions, I restarted in safe mode and managed to get the PC starting up again. They are no longer showing up in the hijackthis log. Maybe I've stopped the rundll files from running completely though as I no longer have the dialup window constantly opening either, I've probably done something I souldn't have? The only thing that still shows up is the entry for coolwebsearch when I run NoAdware. This could all change if I was using IE and not Firefox I suppose?

This is the latest hijackthis.log as well.

Hi Siggyx,

Sorry for any delay, I too have been away for a few days.

Things seem to be okay now?

I no longer have RunOnce loading first when I boot the PC nor do I have 3 or 4 instances of rnaapp loading either.

The only thing that I still find when I run NoAdware is the reference to CoolWebSearch in the IE toolbar directory. I keep removing it through NoAdware but it keeps returning. I've looked in the toolbar folder for IE but can't find it in there.

Apart from that, things do seem a lot better.

On a side not NoAdware is not a very highly respecetd application. Scan with Spybot or AdAware SE and let me know if the problem is still there. In my signature below are links to Spybot and AdAware SE.
