That's not a file… That's a registry key…

This is what I was looking for:

I looked for common files\nsis and there was 8 NSxx.dll there and uninst.
A McAfee window came up and said" PUP Found" it then deleted the 8 dlls. It did not ID "uninst"
I ran a full scan and McAfee found nothing else.
I rebooted and one dll was back.

Which one comes back?
now it is ns4.dll , but I think the number is always changing i showed you that reg back on post 3
Run the registry search tool and search for:

ns4.dll

Post the results.

This may be a stupid question, but have the NSIS media pop-up started again?
that dll is gone (for now) McAfee is finding the dll's in common files\nsis and removing them, but they come back on re-boot,the number of the dll keeps changing. every time McAfee finds a dll it then finds something else , the last two were: C:\system volume information\_restore{6064AFSD-3D45-4E2A-B760-07BF6BF97687}\RP326 ………………………………same as above excepy last 5 digits… ……………………RP324 I can't find this. Is this part of system restore??
Anything that starts with "C:\system volume information\_restore" is, indeed in your system restore area. At first, I thought, maybe, the Spysweeper on your machine was stopping the registry changes. After further investigation yesterday, I found that many people are having the recurring registry entries like you. As far as I can decipher, no one has yet figured out how or why. If you're not experiencing any popups, it's not a real threat. I don't know if you want to continue trying things, or just let it go for now (until a cure is found). Let me know what you want to do. :)
I am getting pop-ups. But i guess the best thing to do is just wait for awhile and see if one of the companies can find a fix . If not i will re-install windows. Thank you for all your efforts. If anything new comes up please let me know.
Just for "grins and giggles", post a new HijackThis! log. If I see something in it that could be causing pop-ups, I'll let you know. If not, I'll do more research into getting rid of NSIS, and post when I find something definitive. :)

The log looks good.

Wouldn't you know it….

I found this "right off the bat", today:

How To Remove NSIS Media

I can't say for sure if it works or not.

"Trojan Hunter" is a good program.

I'm not sure if you have to "pay" to get the trial version to work or not, should you decide to try this.

If they want money, and you don't want to pay (just yet), let me know. I may be able to remove it without using their program.

I'd appreciate it if you'd post again to let me know if you decided to try this. And if so, did it work?

Thanks.
:)
