[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg\AltnetPointsManager]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg\AltnetPointsManager]
"command"="c:\\program files\\altnet\\points manager\\points manager.exe -s"

Those appear to be items disabled via MSConfig.

Maybe that's why you can't remove it?
you are correct sir, I failed to extract all the programs in my haste…mia culpa RegDACL 5.1 - Permissions Manager for Registry keys for Windows NT 4 and above Copyright © 1999-2001 Frank Heyne Software (http://www.heysoft.de) This program is Freeware, use it on your own risk! Copy the text in the following quote box into Notepad:

RegDACL HKLM\Software\ALTNET /gga:F

Save it as fixme.bat, and save it into the RegDACL folder.

Reboot in "safe" mode, and log into an account with "Administrator" privileges.

Now, the fixme.bat file.

This should give any login with "Administrator" privileges full access to this key.

Now, try to delete it (with regedit or the REG file you made).

Let me know how it goes.
:)
"Those appear to be items disabled via MSConfig. Maybe that's why you can't remove it?" When I deleted Kazaa and all it's evil entities i.e. ALTNET i used the add/ remove hardware setting on my control panel.I could go into msconfig and "ENABLE" but I dunno. Whatcha think?
sorry, I tried and still unable to delete. Went into safemode and opened fixme.bat. my registry editor says I have full control. although apparently
keyboard works fine once I'm in under William M Dahnke and am still running in SAFE MODE but cannot initially get there via my Administrator log on due to keyboards locking up before entering system.
Run the checkme.bat file and post the results.

I have something else to try.

I don't have a clue why the keyboard doesn't function in "safe mode".

Thought I'd try it for a chance
Download Registrar Lite from here:

RegLite

Unzip it.

Run it.

Copy and paste the follow text into the address bar, then hit 'Go':

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altnet

In the left hand window, on the ALTNET key

Choose "Properties"

Click "Take ownership" –> OK

In the left hand window, on the ALTNET key

Choose "Delete"

OK any prompts.

That work for you?

I know a real good "hardware" person. Maybe he can help. I'm thinking (like you) that if you could use the Admin account in safe mode, this would be over by now. :)
no problemo, I'm gonna eat me some garlic bread and ceasar sald for now. I'll be up for next 3-4 hours and gonna back up some files anyway (long overdue). If it turns out that I have to reload operating system to resolve locked keyboard in safe mode issue. I'll let you know. I'll keep popping in. Michael D
