In an attempt to rid a PC on our network of the Trojan-Downloader.Win32.ConHook.aa, I saw a Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 posted by Sing Lin. In response Micah posted a fix involving Process Explorer and Killbox.zip and a protocol which apparently worked because Sing Lin said the Trojan-Downloader.Win32.ConHook.aa was gone after applying the fix.
After producing the Logfile of HijackThis from the infected PC, I see that the entries differ from the one generated by Sing Lin.
At this point I'm at a loss to know what fix to apply. The Logfile of HijackThis from the infected PC is as follows:

Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

Welcome to the forum :wavey:

Since you mentioned me by name, I thought I'd better "jump in"
;)

This is a shorter "fix".

Download combofix.exe from the link below:

Combofix.exe

Save it to your desktop. <— VERY IMPORTANT!!!

Go to Start –> Run and copy/paste in the following:

"%userprofile%\desktop\combofix.exe" /v c_1ole

Then hit or click OK

When finished, it will produce a log for you.

Post that log in your next reply, along with a new HijackThis! log.
:)

Note: Do not mouseclick in the combofix window. It may cause it to stall.

Per your instructions, here's the combofix log:

I could not do a "fix check" on 04 - HKLM\..\Run: [susse] "C:\windows\system32\hpsw.exe" since it didn't appear in the hijackthis log.

Thanks
Daryl
Please refer to Ewido set-up instruction 4 and 5 in a previous post. All the items in the Ewido log say "no action taken". You need to have it remove what it finds. Boot in safe mode, run Ewido again, but have it remove the bad things it finds. Save the log and post in into this thread, with a new HijackThis! log. :)
Micah The settings in Ewido were correct, that is, the action was set to quarantine. I'm running the scan again in safe mode and will post the scan report. DHutch
Hmmmm… I don't have that program installed, so my "instructions" may need some "modification". The important thing is to have it remove what it finds.
Here's the second Ewido scan report:

I think it's gone, but frankly it's still a bit of a mystery since it was still around after the first Ewido scan. In any event, many thanks Micah.
