Hi Doug
I'll just sum up what I've done:

I see that you've continued to update your J2SE now up to J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 10.
But you still have the older Version 5 - 9.0 update installed.
You should completely Uninstall all older versions of J2SE (Sun Microsystems JAVA) that currently exist on your machine, prior to installing the newest version which is now 6.0
I recommend the "Offline Installation" option.
Uninstall your current J2SE.
Download the newest 6.0 build of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6
Disconnect from the internet, close other windows and run the installation, following their instructions.
Get the Download here:
http://java.sun.com/...loads/index.jsp

Done

I see that you are running Acronis.
However, it can be a bit of a resource hog when configured for "incremental backups".
Many knowledgeable Acronis users configure it for "manual" use only.
If using Acronis as a manual backup, you can take an iso image directly after your first clean installation, and then periodically (weekly or monthly) to take additional iso images, for instance after you install new software applications. Be sure to run your AntiVirus, AntiSpyware, and DiskCleaner tools and Defrag, prior to taking an Acronis iso image to insure that your saved image is the best possible, (in case you ever have to use it to restore your system.) It is a good idea to Save iso images on a separate drive (away from your machine) for instance on an External Hard Drive.

I couldn't find any sort of changing this in the Acronis software, so I did it in
msconfig

I do not understand the purpose of your Drive D:\
At 15mb, I can't imagine what it would be good for?
Please give us some additional information about how you are using this Drive D:\

I hope you understand what I mean
Posted Image

I believe that you are using your Drive R:\ for "Virtual Memory"? Is that correct?
Since you have 1024mb of Physically installed RAM, you might benefit from a min/max Virtual Memory size of 3072mb. Please remember that it is also "essential" to have at least a small portion of Drive C:\ set aside for Virtual Memory use. I'd recommend that you reserve at least 200mb of C:\ for Virtual Memory, in addition to your Drive R:\ which could be increased to 3072mb (1024 X 3).
Yes, I realize that your Drive R:\ has a maximum size of 2000mb, but you may want to consider this recommendation for future reference if you reinstall or repartition your hard drive.

I've sat 200mbs on C: for RAM, the RAM drive I'll do next time I format the drives

I recommend that you Enable the Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections option.
(Control Panel - Internet Options - Advanced(tab) - place a checkmark/tick in front of the Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections

Done

Do you have the Full paid version of Diskkeeper and do you have it Running in the background?

I have the free version I found somewhere here at the forum

You might just have had a window of WordPad open when running your Pit Test?

Yes ^_^

As in my earlier recommendations (from prior threads) you may benefit from "disabling" several applications and routines that appear to be active at StartUp.

I removed all i could find (you might already know this, since I've said it in an other topic), but Deamon Tools (handy for not scratching my cds/dvds), AVG Anti-Spyware (I'll use my 30 days with recident shield before I remove it), Ati programs (I acctually change this quite often, for gaming, overclocking...)

Please run a couple of Online Malware scans

They all found nothing, I'm also doing regular scans every night.

I'll post my techexpress link here:
http://www.pcpitstop...QWCFWFYJSWS03SJ

Both MSN and the services problem are still there, so thats not the root of it :(

The Logitech program might have to stay on, but I'll chek it al out when I have need for it.

Anyway, thanks for fixing everything else :P

So far....... so good! All your clocked ratings are now above 100% of similar systems! Unfortunately, we still have no clue about what's causing your MSN and login hang. All right, I'll try figuring it out  Anyways, congrats with a new "rank"/group Dough, you've earned it :) Carpe Diem? Seize the day, Yellow Generation, the charity or Metallica?

I enjoy music from Metallica, but don't follow them. I'm definitely not an anime kind of guy and don't know any Yellow Generation work. So it comes down to "Seize the Day". as in: Life is Short And Today is not a Dress Rehearsal. Doug

Hello Unox, I would like to help Doug assist you in this matter if it is alright with you. From what I gather, this issue (as well as the issue from your other thread) goes away after you format your PC and reinstall Windows, correct? Could you tell me around what time you started experiencing this problem and if you made any hardware/software changes prior to the issue occurring? Edit: The boot.ini file looks fine to me :) Thanks, Ax

Hello Ax238
The problem goes away when I format my PC, yes.
I remember it happened very close after I installed Office 2003, but since it al is from Microsoft, I don't think that's the problem.
It was installed 18. January 2007, 18:23:16, I've installed much since then so a System Restore is not the best option :wall:
I've installed Office on an other computer, but nothing like this happened.

This is in the log from that time, it's all on norwegian so you won't understand it.
I tried the MS knowledge base, but it wasn't there

Thanks for the info Unox. You might benefit by checking out the following information regarding the error codes you posted:
http://eventid.net/d...0...gmt&phase=1

You downloaded Windows Live Messenger on January 23, 2007. Is this the messenger that you are using? If not, I would suggest trying that out.

If you are using it, then the following are the only applications that fit in the time frame between the date Windows Live Messenger was installed and when you posted about the issue:
PiMPStreamer
PSPHost
BitComet 0.82
BrainWave Generator

If that is the case, I would try uninstalling these programs.

Regards,

Ax

You downloaded Windows Live Messenger on January 23, 2007. Is this the messenger that you are using?

Nope, I guess I've reinstalled it many times.
I remember I had MSN before I installed Office, which was installed 18. January 2007.
So those programes are installed after the problem occured.

EDIT:
Hi I just got a letter from MS support which says

Have you tried using Windows Live Messenger instead of MSN messenger? Or are referring to Windows Live Messenger as MSN Messenger? (From the above letter you answered these two questions)

What version do you have installed? The current version of Windows Live Messenger is 8.1.0178.

Alternatively, you can see if the following link helps:

I've been quite busy, so I haven't been able to answer.

Well, I'm just used to "MSN" and not "WLM"

I have Version 8.1 (build 6.1.0178.00)
The alternative link didn't work
