Marc,

I have been at this malware removal for quite some time and I have never seen that entry before. When I google it , it takes me right back to your post.

This may or may not work.

Open HJT Scan Only and remove those entries.

Download Pocket Killbox to your desktop, unzip it to a folder that you can find

* Highlight the file with the complete path in the quote and press Ctrl C on your keyboard.

c:\windows\system32\_zskdmwinzmxbgfhbvtav]mun.exe

* Open Pocket Killbox
* Go to File > Paste from clipboard
* Set it to Delete on Reboot
* Tick the box that says End Explorer shell while killing file
* If its not greyed out..Click the radio button that say Unregister .dll before deleting.
* Make sure Single File is selected
* Click on the Red circle with the white X
* It will ask you to confirm the deletion…Say yes
* It will ask you to reboot, say yes

Run HJT and see if its gone, let me know, if not I have to do some serious research on this one.

Ken :D
Ken, That did not remove it, after running Killbox, it still apprars in the HJT log. I also did a google search when I noticed this coming back over and ovre, and only found this thread as well. I assume this is something new. Just what everyone needs, to be a beta tester for a new virus. I assume there is a registry entry that will remove this, but finding a needle in a haystack might be a little harder than expected. I saw that Killbox allows you to replace the file with a dummy file. Should we try this, or could that lead to other problems? Thanks for your help. If you find anything out, please let me know. –Marc
Open these two programs and look in the preference of tools page and make sure that the background guard is disabled. Then if either or both is running in your system tray, right click on the icons and close or disable them both. Killbox is going to make you reboot, so after Killbox, disable both of those programs again.

TrojanHunter 4.5
Ewido

Lets run all these files through Killbox, copy all the files with the entire path and paste them into Killbox

* Copy the files in the quote box by highlighting them and pressing Ctrl C

Post a new log in Normal mode if you can
I tried to paste the clipboard, and it would not put the file names in there. So I tried doing them one at a time, and none of these files existed.

Here is the HJT log after I deleted them in HJT.

This is going to require editing the windows registry, follow all these instructions very carefully, print it all out and take your time. Post a new log when done to see if those entries are gone.

Backup your Registry…
- Press "CTRL - ALT - DEL" keys all at the same time to start "Task Manager"
- In the Task Manager window click on "File", then from the drop-down menu select "New Task (Run…)"
- In the "Create New Task" window enter\type "regedit" (without quotes)
- Once Regedit opens click on the FILE menu and select Export
- Save the file as backup. Save the file somewhere you will remember and not delete.
IMPORTANT: make sure to set the export range to ALL

Click "Start"> "Run"> type in Regedit tap Enter Key

Make sure "My Computer" is highlighted

Click "Edit"> "Find"
Type in mun.exe tap Enter Key.
Right Click on the file if found and select "Delete"

Tap the "F3" Key to find the next entry of the file. Continue using the "F3" Key until it's finished searching.

Do the same for these If listed, use Copy/Paste for these.
ÿ_zsknum_zskdmwinzmxbgfhbvtav

Close Regedit.

Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Ken,

I did as you said, and removed the files. I then ran HJT, and the 3 entries were gone. I decided to reboot, to make sure they did not come back. Here is the log after I rebooted. Looks like they are gone.

Good Morning, Well….its been a long hard ride but you finnaly got your system back in shape. Your log looks good :thumbup: How are things running now?? Ken :D
First of all, let me thank you. I appreciate all of your help, and I will donate to the cause. My machine seems to be running fine. I have not hooked it back up to the internet, and will not do so until I make sure there are security measures in place (I started reading the thread on securing your computer). Thank you for all of your help! -Marc
Marc, :D

This will help, I have most of them installed on my personal computer. We found that although the Security Suites do a fair to good job, they use a lot of system resouces and tend to bog you down, my self, I use just Norton AV and ZoneAlarm along with most of the other spyware protectors. You need just one AV, AVG Free is excellent as is Zone Alarm Free.

Thanks for considering a donation, we are all volunteers and do this whenever we get a extra few minutes, the donation just goes to keep us online :thumbup:

Here are some free programs and tips for keeping your system up to date, and to help keep all the riff raff out of your system.

System Restore makes regular backups of all your settings, if you ever had to use this program to restore your
system to a previous date, you will be infected all over again so we need to clean out the previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore.

* Right-click My Computer.
* Click Properties.
* Click the System Restore tab.
* Check Turn off System Restore on all Drives.
* Click Apply, and then click OK.

Reboot your System

Turn ON System Restore.

* Right-click My Computer.
* ClickProperties.
* Click the System Restore tab.
* UN-Check Turn off System Restore on all Drives.
* Click Apply, and then click OK.

* Go to Start/ Control Panel/ Performance and Maintenance/ System Restore/ Create a New Restore Point
You can name the restore point anything you like, something that you can remember, You will have to be in Catagory View to see this

Download and Install CCleaner
* Click on Run Cleaner
Tutorial for CCleaner

* Go to C:\windows\prefetch and delete all thats in that folder, but not the prefetch folder itself, you should be in Safemode to remove it all.

* Open INTERNET EXPLORER
* Click on the TOOLS MENU
* Then INTERNET OPTIONS
* At the GENERAL TAB (which should be the first tab you are currently on),
* click on the DELETE FILES BUTTON and put a checkmark in DELETE ALL OFFLINE CONTENT.
* Then press the OK BUTTON . This may take quite a while, so do not be alarmed with how long it takes.
* When it is done, your Temporary Internet Files will now be deleted.

Now Empty your Recycle Bin

* Make sure that your ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE is up to date and run a full scan at least once aweek.

* Here are Free Anti-Virus Programs if you need one
AVG Free Edition
AntVir Personal Edition

* Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4
Check for Updates/ Immunize and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis.

* Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.06
Check for Updates and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis.

* Spyware Blaster It will prevent most spyware from ever being installed.

* Spyware Guard It offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.

* Win Patrol This program will warn you when any changes are being made to your system and
give you the option to deny the change.

* IE- Spyad IE-Spyad places over 4000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents downloads and (cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.

* Firefox Browser
It has more features and is a lot more secure than IE. It is a very easy and painless download and install, it will no way interfere with IE, you can use them both. When it asks you if you want it to be your default browser, say NO and take the checkmark out of the box to ask you again. After you use this for awhile, you will want to make it your default.

* Thunderbird Mail There companion mail program was highly favored in PCWorld Magazine, this has a good spam filter and is more secure than Outlook Express.

* Zone Alarm Here is a free Firewall from Zone Labs, I wouldn't access the internet without it.

* WINDOWS UPDATES - Enable Automatic Updates
Right click on MY COMPUTER/Click on PROPERTIES/ AUTOMATIC UPDATES and put a mark in the radio button
DOWNLOAD UPDATES FOR ME BUT LET ME CHOOSE WHEN TO INSTALL THEM.

* Go to START/ CONTROL PANEL> PERFORMANCE AND MAINTENANCE> REARRANGE ITEMS ON YOUR HARD DISK TO MAKE PROGRAMS RUN FASTER
This is the Windows Disk Defragger, run this maybe once or twice a month to keep your system running good. The first time you run it, it may take awhile.
