Hi Raistly
Welcome to the TomCoyote Forums
My name is mschroe919 and I am going to read your log.
Sorry about the delay in responding we are quite busy. I would like to help you So if you would….
Please post back a new log if you still need help. Would like a latest log to review. Or if don't need help let us know too. Also let us know how your Pc is doing at this time.
Thanks mschroe919
This is actually the latest one. I just don't know enough about hijackthis to know if anything I am running is harmful or even worthless to my computer. I have alot of issues with my computer because a friend of mine helped me build it but he moved away and I can't get in touch with him so I don't know how to fix alot of things, probably mostly compatability issues such as: 1. all my microsoft programs (about 50% of the time) take forever to load or freeze and don't load at all. 2. If I try to download any new drivers for my graphics card, I have horrible issues and have to uninstall them 3. my picture / gamma is fine on everything except for movies or clips under any program like winamp or windows media player are too bright and are hard to see 4. for a while java / activeX did not work at all no matter what I installed, and now I think java works but not activeX sorry if these problems are not quite in the field of this site or forum but I thought I'd ask, thanks for any help you can give me…I will post a new log now (10:30 AM CST)
Hi Raistly, Sorry I missed the fact that this was your latest log. I will read it and get back as soon as possible. Thanks mschroe919
Hi Raistly
Welcome back to the forum,
Print this out or save it to a notepad file on your desktop.

The infection you have can cause you to lose your internet connection.
Get a copy of winsockxpfix.exe in case that happens.You just run it and
things should work OK after it reboots your system.

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html

After the above:

Download LSPfix here: http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

Start the program and then check the I know what I'm doing box.

Move all instances of mailscan.dll (and nothing else), to the Remove pane.
Click the Finish Button and reboot.

Find and delete the file c:\program files\virusguard 2005\mailscan.dll

go to add/ remove programs in the controll panel.
Find if there :
virusguard 2005 highlite and click on remove.
=====================
NEXT:
File and Folder Deletion.
In Windows Explorer, Find and Delete the folder in RED, if present:
C:\program files\virusguard 2005
===========================

1. Open My Computer
2. Right click on your hard drive that you wish to clean (C drive, for example)
3. In the context menu that opens, select properties
4. Under the general tab you should select Disk Cleanup
5. Windows will scan your drive which will take a few seconds/minutes
6. A box will display the various files you can remove.
Check all boxes except compress old files
7. Click OK and windows will comply.

Reboot your computer. Start HijackThis. Click Do System Scan and Save a Log File.
Post a New HJT Log
Good luck mschroe919
Thanks for the help, I really appreciate you helping me with my computer issues. If everything looks alright then I only have compatibility issues on random drivers and programs and I was wondering if you knew any good site or forum to ask about those issues. I also get an error right when windows does the start up chime, and it says "Cannot find C:/program" and I have no clue why I get that problem if you know what to do about that. But thanks again for your help, and here is my logfile after I followed your steps: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 6:07:19 PM, on 7/13/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXBCES.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXPPS.EXE C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTsvcCDA.EXE C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\DefWatch.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7DEBUG\MDM.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvsvc32.exe C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SpySweeper.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\MsPMSPSv.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SpySweeperUI.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\jusched.exe C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SSU.EXE C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=userinit.exe,wvrsqox.exe O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll O2 - BHO: Google Toolbar Helper - {AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7} - c:\program files\google\googletoolbar2.dll O2 - BHO: Yvakt Class - {AE0ECC2F-0C33-494C-8B22-B57A7763027F} - (no file) O3 - Toolbar: &Google - {2318C2B1-4965-11d4-9B18-009027A5CD4F} - c:\program files\google\googletoolbar2.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccApp] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvCplDaemon] "RUNDLL32.EXE" C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [nwiz] "nwiz.exe" /install O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvMediaCenter] "RUNDLL32.EXE" C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvMcTray.dll,NvTaskbarInit O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SpySweeper] "C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SpySweeperUI.exe" /startintray O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\jusched.exe" O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\npjpi150_06.dll O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\npjpi150_06.dll O9 - Extra button: Research - {92780B25-18CC-41C8-B9BE-3C9C571A8263} - C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\OFFICE11\REFIEBAR.DLL O18 - Filter: text/html - {DA28E0DB-229C-4003-827E-96AE15AD90FB} - (no file) O20 - Winlogon Notify: WgaLogon - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WgaLogon.dll O20 - Winlogon Notify: wincqt32 - wincqt32.dll (file missing) O20 - Winlogon Notify: WRNotifier - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WRLogonNTF.dll O23 - Service: Symantec Event Manager (ccEvtMgr) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe O23 - Service: Symantec Password Validation (ccPwdSvc) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccPwdSvc.exe O23 - Service: Symantec Settings Manager (ccSetMgr) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe O23 - Service: Creative Service for CDROM Access - Creative Technology Ltd - C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTsvcCDA.EXE O23 - Service: Symantec AntiVirus Definition Watcher (DefWatch) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\DefWatch.exe O23 - Service: Firewall service (FWSvc) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\WinAntiVirus Pro 2006\FWSvc.exe (file missing) O23 - Service: InstallDriver Table Manager (IDriverT) - Macrovision Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\11\Intel 32\IDriverT.exe O23 - Service: LexBce Server (LexBceS) - Lexmark International, Inc. - C:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXBCES.EXE O23 - Service: NVIDIA Display Driver Service (NVSvc) - NVIDIA Corporation - C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvsvc32.exe O23 - Service: SAVRoam (SavRoam) - symantec - C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\SavRoam.exe O23 - Service: Symantec Network Drivers Service (SNDSrvc) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exe O23 - Service: Webroot Spy Sweeper Engine (WebrootSpySweeperService) - Webroot Software, Inc. - C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SpySweeper.exe

Hi Raistly,

Welcome back to the TomCoyote Forums.
I have read your log and have a few things for you to do before we run HJT and fix anything.
I suggest that you copy and paste this answer to your log in wordpad, notepad, or print it out, so you can follow the steps. The steps are important to do in the order that is laid out here.

FIRST:

You need To disable SpySweeper: it can stop our fix.
When the fix is done we will enable it again.

Open it click >Options over to the left then >program options >Uncheck "load at windows startup".
Over to the left click "shields" and uncheck all there.
Uncheck "home page shield".
Uncheck 'automaticly restore default without notifiction".
=======================================

NEXT:

You need to set WinXP to show all hidden and system
files.
Here is how:

* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK
=======================
NEXT:

Before you run HJT again please do the following:
1. delete all TEMP files there is a few ways to do this.
One way I found to be the simplest is go to Start, Run, In the run window type in %temp% and click OK
when Temp file opens go to top, click on edit, click on select all. Then press the delete button.
.
[NEXT:
==========================================
Run HijackThis, and press Scan, and put a check against the following entries, if they still show up. Make sure all browsers and program windows are closed except for HijackThis.

F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=userinit.exe,wvrsqox.exe
O2 - BHO: Yvakt Class - {AE0ECC2F-0C33-494C-8B22-B57A7763027F} - (no file)
O18 - Filter: text/html - {DA28E0DB-229C-4003-827E-96AE15AD90FB} - (no file)

O23 - Service: Firewall service (FWSvc) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\WinAntiVirus Pro 2006\FWSvc.exe (file missing)

Once you have selected this item for HJT to fix, and remember to make sure all browsers and program windows are closed except for HijackThis, then click fix checked.
==============================
NEXT:
reboot and post a new log here in same place.

There will be more to do when I get a new log
thank you and good luck
mschroe919
Thanks again, I'm certain I followed your instructions exactly on this. Here is the updated logfile for you:

P.S. I turned back on spysweeper after I completed everything you said. If I should turn it off again just tell me before the next set of instructions :)

Hi Raistly

Just a lttle more work here:

You need To disable SpySweepe again: it can stop our fix.
When the fix is done we will enable it again.

Open it click >Options over to the left then >program options >Uncheck "load at windows startup".
Over to the left click "shields" and uncheck all there.
Uncheck "home page shield".
Uncheck 'automaticly restore default without notifiction".

NEXT:

We must stop, disable and delete an added service (023)

1. To stop a service and set to 'disabled'

Go to Start > Run and type in Services.msc then click OK

Click the Extended tab.

Scroll down until you find the service.

Service: Firewall service (FWSvc)

Click once on the service to highlight it.

Click Stop

Right-Click on the service.

Click on 'Properties'

Select the 'General' tab

Click the Arrow-down tab on the right-hand side on the 'Start-up Type' box

From the drop-down menu, click on 'Disabled'

Click the 'Apply' tab, then click 'OK'

The service is now stopped and disabled.

2. We will now delete the service:

1. Open HJT
2. Click on Config>>Misc Tools>>Delete an NT Service
3. Type FWSvc in the space provided and click OK
4. The program will ask you to REBOOT — Accept

5. REBOOT into SAFE MODE

6. Using Windows Explorer, locate and DELETE the following file in RED (if it still is present):

C:\Program Files\WinAntiVirus Pro 2006\FWSvc.exe

Delete the following Folder:
C:\Program Files\]WinAntiVirus Pro 2006

7. REBOOT back into Normal Mode

8. Finally, run HijackThis, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.

Good luck mschroe919
I followed your instructions except in safe mode I could not find any traces of that file, winantivirus pro.
Here is the updated log and thanks again for the help.

Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option.

Get the download and tutorial for Spybot S&D here:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial43.html
=========================================================================

Install Ad-Aware
Install and download Ad-Aware. You should also scan your computer with the program on a regular basis just as you would an anti virus software in conjunction with Spybot. The download and tutorial on installing & using Ad-aware can be found here:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial48.html

====================================================================

Install SpywareBlaster
SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs. A article on anti-malware products with links for this program and others can be found here:

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
========================================================================

Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.

Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.

Good luck Mschroe919
