I have now got the names and locations of the viruses. I still need to get rid of them. AVG said they were embedded and didn't remove them. Ewido never saw them. Here are the five viruses: C:\documents and settings\Dick\Application Data\Sun\Java\Development\cache\javapi\v1.0\jar\arc.zip-5645ff6b-3dc812f5.zip:VerifierBug.class C:\documents and settings\Dick\Application Data\Sun\Java\Development\cache\javapi\v1.0\jar\arc.zip-5645ff6b-3dc812f5.zip: C:\documents and settings\Dick\Application Data\Sun\Java\Development\cache\javapi\v1.0\jar\arc.zip-5645ff6b-3dc812f5.zip:Counter.class C:\documents and settings\Dick\Application Data\Sun\Java\Development\cache\javapi\v1.0\jar\arc.zip-5645ff6b-3dc812f5.zip:Beyond.class C:\documents and settings\Dick\Application Data\Sun\Java\Development\cache\javapi\v1.0\jar\arc.zip-5645ff6b-3dc812f5.zip:Worker.class C:\documents and settings\Dick\Application Data\Sun\Java\Development\cache\javapi\v1.0\jar\arc.zip-5645ff6b-3dc812f5.zip:Web.exe How do I get rid of these? Any suggestions:
They look like they are in the Java cache do this and see if that clears them up…

Clearing Cache
  • Go into the Control Panel by clicking start > settings click control panel and double-click the Java Icon.
  • Under Temporary Internet Files, click the Delete Files button.
  • There are three options in the window to clear the cache - Leave ALL 3 Checked
    • Downloaded Applets
      Downloaded Applications
      Other Files
  • Click OK on Delete Temporary Files Window
Note: This deletes ALL the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the CACHE.
  • Click OK to leave the Java Control Panel.
The Java I have loaded is Java ™ 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition 1.3.1_04. It's called a Java TM Plug-in Control Panel. It has seven tabs: Basic/Advanced/Browser/Proxies/Cache/Certificates/About. There is no Temporary Internet Files or Delete files buttom. There are not three options in the window to clear the cache. So I now don't know what to do and can't follow your suggestions.
Have you tried just deleting the files avg finds in C:\documents and settings\Dick\Application Data\Sun\Java\Development\cache\javapi\v1.0\jar\ manaully?

If that does not work then uninstall your current java then get the latest from http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
