I have recently recovered from a virus. I have scanned and cleaned this comp with Avast, Spybot search and destroy, adaware, hoster, cwshredder, online scanners etc etc. If I restart the comp in safe mode, an Administrator account forms, even though this comp has only had one account always. In this admin mode, I can access run, regedit, etc.

I would appreciate any help, Thanks.

That's normal. The administrator account is built-in.

Can you post a new HijackThis log from Normal boot please.

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

My computer is running pretty well after all the virus scanners and spybot type programs I've thrown at it. My PC runs without any notable problems during gaming or normal functions, but the run command is still missing and it is not a display setting. window+R doesnt work, just says its restricted. I ran ATF cleaner, didnt notice much difference.

just says its restricted.

Is there a administrator account on the PC?
Do you have Administrator Rights?

This was the only account, and had always been administrator level. I have never enabled any passworded accounts of any sort. The computer starts up and goes straight to the desktop, no log in screen. In safe mode, I can access the administrator level features on an "administrator" account but I've found this to be normal for all computers. But again, I should not have any restrictions whatsoever on this computer. I previously had a virus which restricted my task manager from appearing, but the problem was found with spybot I believe, and task manager function was restored. I have run regular checks on the comp and have found nothing new.

1. Open gpedit by double clicking on 'gpedit.msc' (C:\WINNT\system32\gpedit.msc) 2. Open 'User configuration' -> 'Administrative Templates' ->'Start Menu & Toolbar' 3. In the right pane find 'Remove Run from start menu' and double click on it 4. Chose 'Disable' and push OK button 5. This should sove your problem

Umm, I can't find gpedit.msc……..I looked it up and found that gpedit.msc is not available on XP home edition which is what I have. They say the alternative is regedit….which I dont have access in normal mode. Is there anyway to access User configuration in regedit? Because I can access it in safe mode
