I had winfixer pop up come up whenever I used IE and I switched to Firefox for my browser. Most recently it's been sysscan pop up come before winfixer pop up. This past weekend my pc started rebooting by itself and winlogon.exe error message came up after the reboot. The same weekend someone hacked into my yahoo account and changed the password. I used ad-aware and it keeps finding virtumonde files but I downloaded Vundofix and ran it. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

There have been some new infections that can hide from HijackThis! running loose lately.

By renaming it, and rebooting, they reveal themselves.

Fortunately, you don't have any of those infections.

You can rename HijackThis! back to it's original name.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8594fdfa-b0e0-4912-a7a7-9056330ddd04} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\mycibvgc.dll

O20 - Winlogon Notify: faxnut - C:\WINDOWS\system32\faxnut.dll

O20 - Winlogon Notify: htproc - htproc32.dll (file missing)

O20 - Winlogon Notify: ogaexsjv - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ogaexsjv.dll

Then click "Fix checked" and close Hijack This!.

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Delete all of the following noted (in red) file(s)/FOLDER(s) you can find:

c:\windows\system32\faxnut.dll <— file

c:\windows\system32\mycibvgc.dll <— file

c:\windows\system32\ogaexsjv.dll <— file

If you cannot find, or delete a file, just move on to the next one in the list.

Some malware files may be "hidden".
Be sure to show hidden files when looking for these file(s) and/or folder(s).

Reboot in normal mode and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis! log file into this thread.

This entry here was (is?) your password stealer:

O20 - Winlogon Notify: htproc - htproc32.dll (file missing)

I realize it says "(file missing)", but you should search for it just to be sure.
:)
It would not let me delete these two in safe mode.

c:\windows\system32\faxnut.dll <— file
c:\windows\system32\ogaexsjv.dll <— file

Download Killbox from here:

Killbox.zip © Option^Explicit

Unzip it, but don't run it yet.

Copy the file names in the quote box below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing C (hold the key down, then press C):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\faxnut.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ogaexsjv.dll

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!
Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

O20 - Winlogon Notify: faxnut - C:\WINDOWS\system32\faxnut.dll

O20 - Winlogon Notify: ogaexsjv - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ogaexsjv.dll

Then click "Fix checked", and close Hijack This!

Run Killbox, click File (in the upper left of Killbox), and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

Click the red dot with the white X in it, in the upper right of Killbox, then click "Yes", and "Yes" again.

The machine will reboot.

After the reboot, "copy/paste" a new HijackThis! log file into this thread. :)
I tried deleting it but it said unable to delete. Do I need to check the unregister .dll file box or change any other options on killbox?

Let's give this a shot….

Run Hijack This!

Click the "Open the Misc Tools section" button.

Click the "Open process manager" button.

Check the "Show DLLs" box (upper right).

Click on each item in the upper window, then look in the lower window.

Check to see which processes are using either of these DLL's

C:\WINDOWS\system32\faxnut.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ogaexsjv.dll

Post back letting me know all processes using those DLL's.

And also include this:

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

l2mfix.exe (© Shadowwar)

l2mfix.exe (© Shadowwar)

Save the file to your desktop and l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.

l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing .

This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, Notepad will open with a log.

Copy/paste the contents of that log into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder!
Processes using the mentioned dll's

C:\windows\explorer.exe
C:\windows\system32\winlogon.exe

Here's the log

Step 1:

Please download Process Explorer by Systernals from:

Process Explorer

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only

Don't run it yet.

Step 2:

Download this file and save it where you can find it:

FixVundo Registry File

Copy/paste the text in the Quote box below into Notepad, and save where you can find it, and save it as as "killme.txt"

C:\WINDOWS\system32\faxnut.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ogaexsjv.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\tunxaf.ini

Step 3:

Print out the following instructions as you will not have Internet Access for the rest of this fix.

Reboot in "safe" mode.

The rest of this fix must be done in safe mode.

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Close the program.

Unzip Process Explorer and double click on procexp.exe

In the top section of the Process Exlporer screen double-click on winlogon.exe to bring up the winlogon.exe properties screen. Click on the Threads tab at the top.

Once you see this screen click on each instance of:

faxnut.dll

once and then click the kill button.

After you have killed all of:

faxnut.dll

under winlogon click OK.

If you see any of the files listed below, kill them as well.

Files to look for:
————————–
ogaexsjv.dll
tunxaf.ini

BE SURE TO KILL ONLY THESE FILES!!!

Probably not all of them will be present. That is OK.

Next double-click on explorer.exe, select the Threads tab, and again click once on each instance of:

faxnut.dll

then click the kill button.

If you see any of the files listed below kill them as well.

Files to look for:
————————–
ogaexsjv.dll
tunxaf.ini

BE SURE TO KILL ONLY THESE FILES!!!

Probably not all of them will be present. That is OK

Once you have done that click OK again.

Next run Hijack This! and place a check beside each of the following.

O20 - Winlogon Notify: faxnut - C:\WINDOWS\system32\faxnut.dll

O20 - Winlogon Notify: ogaexsjv - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ogaexsjv.dll

Now click Fix checked and close HijackThis.

Now double-click on the vundo.reg file that you saved earlier and allow it to merge with the registry.

Step 4:

Find and open the "killme.txt" file with Notepad.

Then copy the all file names in the "killme.txt" to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing C (hold the key down, then press C):

Close "killme.txt".

Double click on Killbox.exe and then check the Delete on reboot button.

In Killbox, click File (in the upper left of Killbox), and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

Click the red dot with the white X in it, in the upper right of Killbox, then click "Yes", and "Yes" again.

After the reboot, "copy/paste" a new Hijack This! log file into this thread. :)
New logfile, it's gone finally.

Looks good.

You can remove this folder now:

C:\!Killbox

Killbox makes copies of the files it removes, and places them there.

Your Java needs updated.

The latest version out is jre1.5.0_07

After updating you must remove previous versions via "Add/Remove Programs".

jre1.5.0_07 update link

It looks like you have two antivirus products active.

That is not recommended.

I suggest you choose ONE, and disable/uninstall the other.

I also see you have BitTorrent, a Peer-to-Peer file sharing application.

There have been some pretty nasty infections being spread recently via "Peer-to-Peer" file sharing applications.

Be afraid… Be very, VERY, afraid….
:o

Thank you for choosing TomCoyote for your malware removal solutions.
