Redirects and incredibly slowed performance

I have run AdAware, Spybot, CWShredder, have the AOL version of McAfee (I do not use AOL, I have DSL with a simplified AOL account), PC Rescue and some other scan thing. Most of the time they come up with nothing, but I still keep getting redirects and my computer crawls along at an incredibly slow pace. Then every once in a while I get 20 or 30 things 'deleted' from one or more of the programs. . .with no change in performance. I am honestly at whits end with this and have seriously considered just whipping the hard drive and re-installing everything. This is a work computer, so that would cause a ton of reintalling of programs and whatnot, so I'm really hoping yall can help me out. Here is the log:

*this was a fresh reboot….i didnt close any of the regular start-up stuff like McAfee or ewido (which i just loaded prior to posting) and the lexmark printer stuff. I will start doing searches and stuff and see if speed has increased or if I keep getting redirects and let you know. =)
Well, i have been bouncing around websites and google and dont seem to be having the redirects. Performance seems to be increased slightly (but I ran a Spybot S&D scan and it is still taking a looong time). Read someone else's post and they/you said that some malware and spyware can slow scans down. So maybe I still have something? Im going to continue running the other scans and stuff and see if it turns up anything and I will let you know.
You can "fix" this with HijackThis!:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

And do this:

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

Reboot.

I see this:

O23 - Service: Symantec Core LC - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exe

Is it a "leftover" from some Norton uninstall?

I also saw this:

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\SHOP FILES\ALL SHOP BUSINESS\Saftey & Security\HijackThis.exe

And was wondering if that entailed "Machine Shop"?

I'm an N/C programmer by profession, and I'm in and out of the "Shop" all day long.
;)
Wow, simply amazing. I wish I knew more about this stuff…it really does amaze me at how malicious some carp** can be, and how effective certain methods are. Technology can be both good and bad eh? Anyway, I think that might have done the trick. I got spybot to run like its supposed to, and I havnt been redirected to anything yet.

The SHOP stuff is a file that has all our buisness stuff in…basically just Order forms I made up on Word and some Rules and Regulation sheets for our 2 or 3 employees. Family buisness, and I got stuck cleaning up the computer. Guess there are disadvantages to being mildly computer savvy, but really a tech-noob in disguise! Native American Jewelry if you were wondering what we sell.

While I have you, I ran one more hijack this log: Is there anything else I can remove that might be slowing progress or posing a threat (whoever minimal)? Here is the log:

Native American

Ahhh, yes…….

While I'm not "Native American" (by blood), I feel that way in "spirit". Sometimes I wish I could turn back the clock about 600 years and be a Native of the American plains. When I was growing up, my best friends were Oglala Sioux…

I'm glad our efforts have been fruitful.

The log is clean of any malware.

I see only two improvements you could make:

Your Java needs updated:

O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_01\bin\npjpi150_01.dll

The latest version out is jre1.5.0_07

After updating you must remove previous versions via "Add/Remove Programs".

jre1.5.0_07 update link

And your Windows and IE are not "current":

Platform: Windows XP (WinNT 5.01.2600)
MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 (6.00.2600.0000)

It should be this if totally updated:

Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)
MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)

Thank you for using the forum.

M68 :)
