Thanks for the promp reply!! I was expecting a long wait seeing how busy the forums are. I am using a separate laptop while my desktop is in Safe mode. Every time I reboot in Normal mode, applications would be slow. It seems to think for awhile and then all hell breaks loose with the popups! I have used Adaware with their VS2 plug ins, ran Ewido, Spybot, CWShredder but to no avail. I will proceed with your instructions above and see what happens. Thanks!

Lets try this:

Click the link below and get Google Toolbar.
Google toolbar has a very good built in popup blocker with a nice search bar. To provide privacy, select disable advanced features when installing.

Thanks, LDTate. I am using Firefox. When I click to install, it says "Software Installation is currently disabled. Click Edit Options...to enable it and try again". When I click Edit Options, I cannot find anything to enable it. The pop ups are appearing even when my browser is closed.

Download and Save blacklight to your desktop.
F-Secure Blacklight: http://www.f-secure....light/try.shtml
Double-click blbeta.exe then accept the agreement.
click > scan then > next,
You'll see a list of all items found.
Don't choose for rename yet! I want to see the log first, because legit items can also be present there...
There must be also a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx stand for numbers)
Post the contents of the log in your next reply together with a new hijackthislog.

At least we know you don't have a hidden Rootkit.
Lets remove what you don't need and see if that helps.

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

FYI, Ad-Aware found SurfSideKick 3, A BetterInternel, Qoologic, Win32Trojan.Downloader, CoolWWWSearch, NewDotnet, Command Service, ShopNav (I think I got them all) at one point and I have tried various methods from this forum to remove them. Something is still hiding somewhere. When the computer reboots, the popups appear as the programs are loading. After I closed them, they remain quiet for a while until I open a browser (Firefox) and they appear all over again. Then I closed them as fast as I can and they will sit silent for a few minutes and then all over again.....like the Energizer Bunny...still going/popping!! LOL! :wall: If I don't open any browser, they will pop up by themselves too. I hope my private info from my computer is NOT being uploaded somewhere! Some of the Ads are: AdBannerconnect, 32Vegas, ClubDice......

Here is a new log:

Download the trial version of Spy Sweeper from Here

Install it using the Standard Install option. (You will be asked for your e-mail address, it is safe to give it. If you receive alerts from your firewall, allow all activities for Spy Sweeper)

If you are taken to the internet page, just close the page.

You will be prompted to check for updated definitions, please do so.
(This may take several minutes)

Click on Options > Sweep Options and check Sweep all Folders on Selected drives. Check Local Disc C. Under What to Sweep, check every box.

Click on Sweep and allow it to fully scan your system. If you are prompted to restart the computer, do so immediately. This is a necessary step to kill the infection!

When the sweep has finished, click Remove. Click Select All and then Next

From 'Results', select the Session Log tab. Click Save to File and save the log somewhere convenient.

Exit Spy Sweeper.

Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HJT log as well as the Results from Spy Sweeper file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

The forum is run by volunteers who donate their time and expertise.

Aaargh!!! Still popping! Did all the above. Had problems installing Spysweeper initially. Got an error saying file damaged twice and had to reinstall. Wonder if it had anything to do with the pop ups while the software was downloading. After sweep, removed all and rebooted. Pop ups reappear. What next? Here are the results:
