Hey, I hope I have this right... I loaded up my PC and ran HiJackThis without closing any startup process'

When I open Task Manager it shows svchost.exe (NOT scvhost which I know is a virus) using up to 40,000K memory but after awhilt it will start to climb and will reach up to 300,000K memory usage

If you still need help, Scan again with HijackThis, and copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

Please turn Word Wrap OFF in Notepad before using HijackThis.

Ok well my computer seems to behave pretty normal but if I leave it on for awhilst it will start to load very slowly... if I move my mouse too fast I can notice it lag behind, when I try to open a new program it could take up to 30 seconds before it opens the program (which would normally open in under 5 seconds) When I do Ctrl+Alt+Del I notice that scvhost.exe has up to 300,000K Memory usage when it should be around 20,000K - It also uses between 40-80 CPU percentage, and on the PERFORMANCE tab the CPU Usage History graph is between 90-100% all the time... Anyway I'll post the HiJackThis log below and then the System startup log...

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.


Next:

Please download the trial version of ewido anti-malware 3.5 here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.


Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Note: This can take several minutes to load Sfae Mode.

Then please run Ewido, click on the Scanner run a full scan

Close ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders. Please start Ewido, and run a full scan.

• Click on Scanner
• Click on Settings
  • Under How to scan all boxes should be checked
  • Under Unwanted Software all boxes should be checked
  • Under What to scan select Scan every file
  • Click on Ok
• Click on Complete System Scan to start the scan process.
• Let the program scan the machine.

If Ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a checkmark in the lower left corner of the box that says Perform action on all infections and put a checkmark in the box next to Create encrypted backup, then choose clean and click Ok.

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save Report.

• Click Save Report button
• Save the report to your Desktop

Close Ewido and Reboot in Normal Mode.


Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

Hey Well I was able to run Ewido but it found nothing, and I also used that ATF Cleaner... everything seemed to be working fine but then the other day the PC would only start in Safe mode... and now won't even start in Safe mode... my dad bought a new PC anyway but I'll reformat the old PC since I think the harddrive is messed up a bit... Be sure to get these if you don't have anything like them.

If you dont have these programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Thanks again LDTate I have ZoneAlarm & NTL Netguard Security along with Adaware installed for now but I'll go ahead and install Spyware Blaster+Guard Hopefully I won't need to run another HiJackThis log for a long time...
