Need Help Eliminating VirtuMonde and Cursing those who Developed it

Here is my HijackThis Log….Adaware reports it but is unable to delete the so-called "VirtuMonde"…SystemIdleProcess and Explorer are running excessively slow and I recieve unsolicited pop-ups and ad windows…I have tried numerous removal tools and have been unsuccessful…I truly hope the wizards here are able to liberate my comp…crossing my fingers

Welcome to the forum. :wavey:

Download VundoFix.exe to your desktop from here:

VundoFix.exe

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

1. Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
2. Click the Scan for Vundo button.
3. Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
4. You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES.
5. Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
6. When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
7. Turn your computer back on.

Post a new HijackThis! log, along with the contents of this file:

C:\vundofix.txt

into this thread.

Thanks for the welcome! :) ….unfortunately I did as instructed in your post but the program would "hang-up" when I told it to scan…I downloaded the file again incase something had gone wrong but to no avail…am posting a new HijackThis Log just in case something new has sprung up…and Thanks for helping me out

That's bizarre… :wtf:

The things in your log that are "Vundo" are these:

Close all browser windows.

Then disable Teatimer:

How To Disable Teatimer

After we have cleaned your system, please be sure to reverse this process, and re-enable Teatimer.

Then "fix" those two items noted above using HijackThis!

Then reboot. Run HijackThis! again to be sure they are gone.

If you want me to look for leftover Vundo files that don't show up in the log file, please do this:

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

Save the file to your desktop and l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.

l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing .

This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, Notepad will open with a log. Copy/paste the contents of that log into this thread.


IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder!

Hello…your last instructions seemed to do the trick…HijackThis removed the offending files :lol: ….don't know if anyone has mentioned it in awhile but you and your comrades are wonderful…I will remember to donate to support this site…the response was timely and very concise…this is actually my wife's laptop and she was extremely upset that she wasn't able to resolve this issue on her own( and that her husband who is by no means a techofreak was able to find help that actually worked!)…thanks once again and I have included the log from "l2mfix"
