Picked this comp up at a yardsale over the weekend Gateway 2000, P3. running windows ME. I have been cleaning it up and have removed a ton of spyware/adware along with 4 viruses. I am running a panda scan on it now and it shows 1 virus, 59 spyware, 3 hijacking tools, and 1 dialer.
Here is HJT log file....

LOL Well..... unfortunatley it is not behaving at all now. I attempted to do a system restore on it, it froze up and then crashed during the restore. When it finally did boot back up it was a mess. I'm getting errors on it out the wazzooo and I can't get it to load completely. It shows the desktop and icons... but kinda stalls out over all the error messages. I get the little hour glass icon and it just stays that way. What sucks is I actually got that one cleaned up by myself, the only problem I was having at the end was trying to get my flash player to work. Talk about a headache....

I managed to get in there now. I downloaded and reinstalled the missing DLL files. I'm trying to reinstall my DSL on it now, but that's not working so well. I'm half afraid to mess with the system restore at all now to be honest. My luck it would freeze up and crash again. I think I'll paly it safe and just try and undo the damage piece by piece.... speaking of wich. IE dissapeared completely on it. Happen to know where I could get that in zip format? Long shot but thought I'd ask.

To access this repair tool you should follow these steps:

1. Click on Start, then click on Settings, and then click on Control Panel.
2. Once the control panel window is open double-click on the Add/Remove Programs icon.
3. You will now see a screen that shows a listing of all installed programs on your computer. Scroll down till you see Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Tools.
4. Double-click this entry and a screen will appear asking what you would like to do.
5. Select the option to Repair Internet Explorer and press the OK button.
6. Then press the Yes key to begin the process.
7. When it is completed reboot your computer.

Or if you need to http://support.micro...om/?kbid=293907

Well that didn't work. It wasn't showing in the add/ remove so I went over to microsoft and followed their advice. Was missing setupwdv.dll, got that and reinstalled it. But now I get a message that there are problems with associated components. I went in to system restore, it wasn't showing an option for undoing the last restore (I'm assuming it's because it never finished the restore) anyway I retried the restore to a date earlier than all this mess. But it came up unsuccessful on that. :wall:

I can't do a scan on it. It freezes up on me when I try. There's just to many missing/messed up files on it now. I'm gonna try to reinstall windows on it with the restore disks, but I need to get the disk with the operating system on it resurfaced first. If that doesn't work I'm prolly gonna just give up on it. One comp with problems is enough for me. LOL Thanks for your help anyway. :)
