Hello, I seem to have a problem with a Harley Davidson Desktop Picture that will not change. I have attemped to find the pictue and delete it. However, the pic cannot be found. I have ran McAfee Virus Scan, AD-Aware, Spybot -Search and Destoy including TeaTimer, SpyGaurd, Spyware Blaster and still no effect. I have the sounds from the desktop theme that I have chosen, they can be heard and it appears that the picture of the theme is behind the Harley Davidson pic. I have contacted the previous owner of this laptop (HP Pavilion zv5000, Windows XP SP2) and he had stated that his father downloaded this pic and ever since then, he has not been able to remove the picture. With that being said, it seems there is a virus or something that it "hiding behind it"! If there is a way to remove the virus and pic all together then please let me know. Also, if you could take a look at the HJT log and let me know what, if anything, needs to be fixed, I would appreciate it. I will be running the virus scan in safe mode and will be sure to post a new HJT log.

Nevermind about the Harley Davidson wallpaper. It was fixed do to reading other related topics in you forums section. I found it under the Display, Desktop tab, Web tab and deleted the website page it had. I chose a new desktop theme and applied it and all seems well…no more Harley Davidson wallpaper. However, if there is anything on my HJT log that you think should be taken care of please let me know! -Jean P.S. AOL programs are still on the laptop that was the previous owners stuff that I don't need or use. I have tried to remove ALL the AOL programs but to no avail…not a biggie but is eating up HD space. If you have the time, could you help me out with that? If not, like I said, it's not a biggie! Thanks again!
Please disable Teatimer, it can interfere with the cleaning process:

How to Disable Teatimer

After we have cleaned your system, please be sure to reverse this process, and re-enable Teatimer.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…//www.yahoo.com

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…rch/search.html

Then click "Fix checked" and close Hijack This!.

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Delete all of the following noted (in red) file(s)/FOLDER(s) you can find:

C:\Documents and Settings\Nik\Local Settings\Temporary Internet files\content.ie5\65crihy9\winfixer2006freeinstall[1].exe <— file

Some malware files may be "hidden".
Be sure to show hidden files when looking for these file(s) and/or folder(s).

Reboot in normal mode and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread. :)
I just got your reply and I will be taken care of all requested items in the morning. Thanks for such a fast reply…I know how busy you guys are! May God bless and keep you! -Jean
Ok, nevermind, I found time to do it this evening! I did as you said (incuding fixing the HKT log) but after booting up in safe mode to look for the specific file - C:\Documents and Settings\Nic\Local Settings\Temporary Internet files\content.ie5\65crihy9\winfixer2006freeinstall[1].exe - there was nothing that was even remotely close to that anywhere. All files and file extentions were showing and still nothing. So with that being said, I had rebooted in normal mode and had run the HJT and saved a log which is as follows:

I found that file right after I posted the last HJT log. I had deleted it…I hope! I don't see it on the new log but you can see for yourself. Just to let you know as well, it seems to take the cpu about 5-7 minutes to completely load up after a restart. Any suggestions or should I just live with it? LOL! Also, any programs that you see that you don't feel would be needed, could you let me know. As the first message states that this cpu used to belong to someone else. I am college bound but for now it is just a common household cpu. Thanks again and sorry for the confusion!

Close all browser windows and fix this:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…//www.yahoo.com

That's not an "infection", just the Redsheriff servers "spying" on you.

Go to:

Start –> Control Panel –> Add/Remove Programs

Remove anything in there that has "AOL" in it. Then reboot.

The only thing I can see in the log with AOL is this:

O8 - Extra context menu item: &AOL Toolbar search - res://C:\Program Files\AOL Toolbar\toolbar.dll/SEARCH.HTML

So, I'm thinking you should at least find "AOL Toolbar" in "Add/Remove Programs".

Then you should be "good to go".

One way to help free up resources is to navigate to this folder:

C:\WINDOWS\prefetch <– folder

Then, delete all the files in that folder.

DO NOT DELETE THE FOLDER!!

Just delete all the files in the folder.

Read about it here:

Windows prefetch

M68 :)
