Here's a fairly extensive description:

W32/Alcra-B

I'm not seeing any evidence of it in the log....

All I can suggest would be this:

Please download and run Spybot-Search&Destroy and Ad-Aware; they are the standard programs for finding and cleaning malware off your system. Here are links to both programs, and instructions for their use.

Get Spybot - Search & Destroy from Spybot Search and Destroy
(This is the NEW Version 1.4)
Get AdAware SE Personal from Lavasoft
(This is the NEW Build 1.6)

Download and install these programs if you don't already have them. If you do have them, make sure they are UPDATED AND CONFIGURED AS DESCRIBED here:

Configure Adaware

Configure Spybot

Reboot after running each program.

Please try at least one of these free online virus scans of your system:

Trend-Micro Housecall
Put on 'Autoclean' and delete what it can't clean.

Panda Activescan
Accept default settings.

Etrust Security Advisor
Choose 'Cure' whatever is found, then delete if unsuccessful.

Reboot after each scan.

Let me know if any of those programs finds something it can't clean, cure, remove, disinfect, or quarantine.

You said in the post in the "Other Computer Problems" forum that your Norton Antivirus subscription had expired.

Have any plans on replacing it?

Just "deleting" the file wouldn't remove it from the log.

If you were "fully" infected, you wouldn't be able to delete it because it would have been "in use".

Remove c:\programfiles\winupdates from the recycle bin, and do a full system scan with your antivirus to see if it finds anything.

What kind of "negligble objects" are you referring to?

There's a few links here for free antivirus products:

Post Infection Items To Ponder

If/when you decide to switch, do it this way:

1. Run at least one of those online scans to be sure you're not currently infected. If no infections are found, proceed. If any are found, do what it takes to remove them, and scan again.

2. Download, but don't run, the installation program for the new antivirus.

3. Completely disconnect from the internet.

4. Uninstall your current antivirus, then reboot.

5. Install the new anitvirus, then reboot.

6. Connect to the internet, and update the definitions for the new antivirus (if necessary).

An "out of date" antivirus is a liability, NOT an asset...

Don't worry about the MRU objects.

The cookies aren't a tragedy...

Adware:Adware/CWS.Searchmeup Not disinfected C:\Documents and Settings\Tabarak\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\javapi\v1.0\jar\jrl.jar-383ccec8-1ca27c68.zip[GetAccess.class]

Let's do this:

Go to:

Start --> Control Panel

Here you'll probably have to click "Other Control Panel Options" (left side of screen)

Your Java Plug-in icon should appear on the screen. Looks like a coffee cup.

Click it.

Then click the "Cache" tab at the top,

Then click the "Clear" button (upper right), then click "Yes".

Close the Java Plug-in and the Control Panel windows.

Run a scan again.
