I am the victim of yet another antispylabs attack. I read other forum posts to try to resolve the issue myself first. I ran Ad-aware, Spybot, Windows Defender, Smitfraud, Registry Mechanic, & Ewido. I think I got rid of the annoying side of the antispylabs stuff, but everything still seems to run slow. I would like someone who knows a little more that I do (which is just about anybody) to take a look at my current hijackthis log & tell me what is up. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

This entry indicates a virus:
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [system] dcomx.exe

If you have an anti virus program - please update and run it, if not run this free scan - make sure you set it to auto-clean:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

Reboot and…….

Open Windows Explorer & Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked.
Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and untick "hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK" (reverse this procedure when we are done)

Close ALL programs down, leaving ONLY HijackThis running - Click Scan and…..
Place a check against the following items:

O2 - BHO: winapi32.MyBHO - {26C43C19-A1CE-456E-9CBF-77FFB9E92681} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\winapi32.dll (file missing)

Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

Delete this file if found:

dcomx.exe

Clean out temporary and TIF files. Go to Start > Run and type in the box: cleanmgr. Let it scan your system for files to remove. Make sure these 3 are checked and then press *ok* to remove:

Temporary Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin

Reboot

These are not needed at startup and can be fixed using HJT - they can always be restored using HJT backups.
To see what each one is - just Google the xxxx.exe file at the end.

Don't open e-mail attachments without first scanning them with an up-to-date
anti virus program, even after doing that I would be very careful. Don't click on any executables in e-mails or any other links that you're not sure of.
Watch your surfing habits, don't click on or download anything you're not sure of. Don't install a program that hasn't been recommended by a reputable organization.
