Please download VundoFix.exe from here:

VundoFix.exe

and save it to your desktop.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.

You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK

When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button

Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.

You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES

Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.

When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.

Turn your computer back on.

The fix will create a log in the following location: C:\vundofix.txt

Please post it's contents, along with a new HijackThis! log, into this thread.

We need to disable your Microsoft AntiSpyware Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.

Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Click on Options, Settings.
In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
Under Startup Options uncheck Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.

After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {DCBD0125-C2C3-4DB6-98AD-6BC60BBF87B2} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\vturs.dll

Then click "Fix checked" and close Hijack This!.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

It has to get "turned off" one way or another.... If you're familiar with MSCONFIG, maybe you can temporarily disable it that way. I've never heard of anyone not being able to "turn it off" before...

turned off via msconfig, restarted, ran hijack and checked BHO (noname) and R3. Shut down IE and other apps and ran Vundofix.exe and it didn't find anything. Here's the latest Hijack log:

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Log into an account with "Administrator" privileges, and run the VundoFix again.

I've not heard of this "fix" failing before.

Just my luck to bump into a "new variant"...

Let's try this the way we used to BEFORE Vundofix came along...

Run HijackThis!

Click the "Open the Misc Tools section" Button.

Click the "Open process manager" Button.

Check the "Show DLL's" box (upper right).

In the upper window, click on each running process, then look in the lower window.

Find and post the name of each process using C:\WINDOWS\system32\vturs.dll

Post back, letting me know ALL the processes using that DLL.

Then I need this:

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

l2mfix.exe (© Shadowwar)

l2mfix.exe (© Shadowwar)

Save the file to your desktop and <double-click> l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.

<double-click> l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing <enter>.

This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, Notepad will open with a log. Copy/paste the contents of that log into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder!
