I am getting constant pop ups; beginning with one that says that there has been a security breach by the Blackworm Virus. After closing that window, another pops up asking me to download WinAntiVirus Pro and leads me to an amaena.com web site. I have scanned my entire system using Norton Internet Security, but nothing has come up as infected. I just downloaded HijackThis and below is my scan log:

Thanks so much in advance for the help! I really appreciate it!

Hello and welcome to TomCoyote forum. If you are not receiving help elsewhere, you have a Vundo trojan infection and it looks like someone has tried to remove an earlier infection? Before I post, I would like to cover three things.

1) C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_01\ <<< you Java program is out of date, a security risk and may well be why you are infected now. Review the information in the link to get yourself up to date: http://forums.spybot...read.php?t=2559

2) Please read the link below this program, then I suggest you use Add Remove program to remove th junk.
C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
http://www.clickz.co...cle.php/3561546
http://www.greatis.c...viewmgr.exe.htm
http://www.spywarein...4.php#viewpoint

3) C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop Messenger\ <<< the program in red is usually downloaded with other needed Logitech programs and the reason for all of the 018 lines. It happens because the EULA agreement is not read. This is a problem and a resource waster, and I suggest you uninstall it also. Just the Desktop Messenger as anything else may cause problems with needed Logitech programs.

4) If you must run AWS "weatherbug", make sure it is version 6.0 or higher, all earlier versions are adware based.

Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with this fix

5) Please download VundoFix v4.2.35 to the Desktop:
http://www.atribune....tent/view/24/2/
* Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it
* Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task
* You will receive a message saying VundoFix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
* When VundoFix re-opens, click: Scan for Vundo
* Once it's done scanning, click: Remove Vundo
* A prompt asking if you want to remove the files appears, click: Yes
* Once you click yes, the Desktop goes blank as it starts removing Vundo.
* When completed, a prompt to shutdown the computer appears, click OK
* Turn the computer back on.

(some lines may be removed by the tool, don't be concerned, just do not miss any)

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O20 - Winlogon Notify: xxywt - C:\WINDOWS\system32\xxywt.dll

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Restart the computer and post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HJT log along with your comments.

Thanks...pskelley

Hi pskelley,

Thanks again for all of your help. I really appreciate it.

Okay, so first I should tell you that between the time of my original post and you getting back with me, I downloaded and ran XoftSpy, which seemed to remove a bunch of junk, but I still got popups even after that. I followed all of your instructions:

- Deleted old version of Java and installed new one
- Deleted ViewPoint
- Deleted Desktop Manager
- Verified that the version that I was running of AWS "weatherbug" is over version 6.0

- Downloaded and ran VundoFix, below are the results.
- Also ran Hijackthis and followed your instructions afterwards; only 016: .... weatherbug remained; I checked and fixed it through Hijack this. Below are the results for that as well.

Also: As I was going through the Add/Remove Programs, I noticed a couple of peculiar programs: Wild Tangent Web Driver and Wex Tech Answer Works. From what I remember, XoftSpy found Wild Tangent files as a threat and I deleted them... should I get rid of these other two programs, also?

Thanks,

Brando

Thanks for returning your information, looking at your comments and questions first. To my knowledge, and I do not use XoftSpy, it will not removed the Vundo trojan. There are a couple of other programs, one from Symantec, but because of constant updates from the hackers, and the fact I know Atribune constantly updates for new vatiations, I use that fix.

Wild Tangent I remove when I find it, some folks think it is necesary to run games, but to my knowledge only for auto updates and you pay dearly in adware related junk.
Wex Tech Answer Works I have no experience with, try Google. I would suggest if you don't use them, uninstall them. If unsure ask Google.

You HJT log looks clean of malware, Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
