Hello again Corpus,

You have a real nasty one this time:

W32.Alcra.F is a worm that attempts to propagate through various file-share networks accessible with BearShare, LimeWire, Morpheus and Shareaza applications. It also attempts to disable several programs on the compromised computer and drops a variant of W32.Spybot.Worm onto the compromised computer

Hello again LD :) . Little problem, you see what happened was, I accidently uninstalled my norton anti virus scanner, not the rest of the system works just that. Lol, and didn't realize it till I went to try and update. Well I reinstalled it just before I made my last post, and it already did a full system scan, so I continued on with the rest of those instructions, and they didn't seem to do me any good, infact i went into command promt and went into C:\Windows\System\ just as it told me to, and well, I didn't find any of the files it specified to find and delete. Then I did the regedit and that didn't seem to do anything either, I have recently restarted and it seems that it may have gone away? I'm not sure, norton doesn't really seem to get rid of alot of the problems and issues it finds, so lemme know your feed back. Here's the Hijack This log I just created for you to take a look at again, I'm not sure if it's still the same. Thanks again LD.

I suggest you do this:

Important: Do this before any fix.

Please put your HijackThis in it's own folder, (I create a new folder in C:\ named HJT).
You can do a Right Click on any open area on the desktop, New> Folder, then rename the folder HJT.

Go to where your HijackThis is and Right Click on HijackThis.exe, select Cut, then open the new folder you just created (HJT) Right Click in the folder and select paste.

The reason we do this is Hijackthis creates backup files just in case you'd need to restore one and we'll be cleaning out the temp files.



Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.


Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.



Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winlog] winlog.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [winlog] winlog.exe

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"


Delete this File if listed:
winlog.exe



Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Hey LD! Thanks again, sorry this took me so long to get posted, but I have been extremely busy with working and such lately. I bartend, lol. I have also been busyin landing a job at the Pentagon as a Tier level 2 Network/System Administrator. So here is my latest HJT Log.

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Check "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, Uncheck "Show hidden files and folders."
Check "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.





If you dont have these three programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening. I also have a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.
