I have transfered from the Hijackthis and Spyware forum since this does not seem to be a malware problem. If desired, refer to topic started under "epeegee" Feb 24 2006, 09:09 PM Platform: Windows XP (Home) SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) System has slowed down, and gets very slow when opening the I386 folder which contains the MDMGL006.INF files. All of the Antivirus software slow way down when reviewing these files. They are short, and actually Norton does not get past this file. Just hangs there for hours. What are these files. They seem like modem related files. I can disable the modem function since it is not being used. What procedure is recomended for removing these files or recovering the originals??
Hello epeegee,

I hate to see you hanging. I tried to find out more information for you. Hope it helps.

Hi,

Those files should exist in the I386 folder, but compressed with an
extension of .in_, see if you can set the scanners to skip or exclude the
I386 folder.

Thanks I will try that… Is there a concern for viruses to get into those files? I notice that just opening Explorer to this directory and scrolling so the MDMGL files are visible will almost lock-up the computer?? I uninstalled Norton and Ewidio, and tried viewing the directory in explorer and the same happens. I thought there may have been some background scanning occuring> I guess not. Thanks again for the help.
