Here is my log. I had Winfixer on my PC and ran the self-help you suggested for Winfixer, as well as the general self-help (Spybot/Ad-Aware/trial version of ewido anti-malware 3.5). This is a relatively new computer (six months) and I keep my anti-virus anti-spam software up to date and run scans regular, so basically getting Winfixer has made me wonder what else has gotten on the computer that shouldn't be there. If someone would take a look and help me do away with the bad things, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hello and welcome to TomCoyote forum. Good job with the self help, only thing I do not like is I don't get to look at the logs, especially ewido, so if something could not be handled by ewido, but is not showing in the HJT log, I have no way of knowing. The HJT log looks to be clean of malware.

You can remove this if you wish: C:\WINDOWS\ALCMTR.EXE see this: http://castlecops.co...plist-5306.html It's optional and if you remove it, be care to remove just that file I will highlite in red. The rest of RealTek is needed.

You also have six redirects that are R1 lines like this:
http://ie.redirect.h...lion&pf=desktop If you don't use them remove them with HJT, might make your browser run a little better?

Java is out of date and a security issue: C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03 see this link: http://forums.spybot...read.php?t=2559

ewido is a great program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

http://forum.malware...wtopic.php?t=14

http://cybercoyote.o...not-admin.shtml

System Restore does not know good from bad, it backs up everything. In case some of the infection got into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, restart your computer and turn it back on.

Safe surfing...Phil

Thanks a lot. I'm just glad to be done with winfixer. Haven't had a problem since I ran your self-help. I'll try the other things you suggested and if it would be of help, I saved the ewido log, so I can post that. Thanks so much. KJ

Hi HJ, if you have the ewido scan results, why not post them. Glad to hear all is running well and there will probably be nothing there, but post it since you have it. If it is long, you may edit out cookies before you post. Thanks...Phil
