Trojan32 and w32/alemod virus

Thank god I found this site- I desperately need some help. My computer was recently taken over by some nasty programs. The manifestation has been three-fold. First, I constantly get this program called AlfaCleaner showing up on my computer. I uninstall it (both in regular and safe modes) and everytime I go to the web, it shows back up. Secondly, everytime I run Microsoft Antispyware Beta1 it located a virus called: Trojan.intell32 and says it is located in Hkey_CLASSES_ROOT\clsid\-{357A87ED-3E5D-437d-B334-DEB7EB4982A3 I select "remove" and it says it has successfully removed it but every time I run this program, it shows back up again. Thirdly, whenever I run McAfee VirusScan it locates a virus called w32/alemod.f.dll and says it can't move it. here's the output: 2/10/2006 11:01:21 AM Move failed (Clean failed) c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\wininet.dll W32/Alemod.f.dll(Virus) So, I really need some help and hope someone out there can walk me though the cleansing of my machine! Please click here for instructions on how to set up a HijackThis folder.

There is a new of HijackThis Download it here
Please scan with this version.

When the program launches, hit the "Scan and save log" button
Press that, and save the log anywhere you like.

Now if you doubleclick the log file.Go to Edit > Select all, then to Edit > copy.
Now you've copied the entire text to the Windows Clipboard

Next, go back to this forum thread, and click "Add Reply".
In an empty area click your RIGHT mouse button, and choose 'Paste' from the context menu.
There's your Hijack This log.

Not much there Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following,

Sorry missed this one. Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

C:\Program Files\Viewpoint
Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.
Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we will take another look.
Let me know how it is running.

Got anxious and ran Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta1 and this time it located Trojan.intell32 in 2 places (previously it had been 1- so maybe i've somehow moved it?) locations are: Hkey_CLASSES_ROOT\clsid\-{357A87ED-3E5D-437d-B334-DEB7EB4982A3} and Hkey_CLASSES_ROOT\clsid\-{357A87ED-3E5D-437d-B334-DEB7EB4982A3} No 1 Any advice? Again- I really appreciate the help

One more note- I navigated to another webpage and the darn AlfaCleaner program popped up out of no where and started running through all these files- I clicked on the close button and then quickly uninstalled it but clearly, I have not removed it. Also, when I went into Program Files a few steps ago I noticed that there was an Alfa Cleaner folder in there- I probably should have delelted it but I didn't know if that would be prudent. Apologies for the pests that have overridden my machine!

One of the best features of Windows XP is the System Restore option,
however if a virus infects a computer with this operating system the virus can be backed up
in the System Restore folder. Therefore, clearing the restore points is necessary after a virus removal.

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account
which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because
you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Download Ewido Security Suite it is a trial version of the program.

Install ewido security suite
Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
The program will now go to the main screen

You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.

On the left hand side of the main screen click update
Then click on Start Update

The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update Ewido.

Once the updates are installed do the following:

Click on scanner
Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.
You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
Click Save report.
Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Now close ewido security suite and post the results here.
With a new hijackthis log.

Uggh. I just ran Microsoft AntiSpyware again and it still claims that it detected and removed Trojan.intell32 from the same location as listed above....... thoughts? Many thanks for all the help.

Download smitRem.exe©noahdfear and save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

Place a shortcut to Panda ActiveScan on your desktop.

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates:
Ad-Aware SE Setup
Don't run it yet!

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Open Ad-aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds.

Run Ewido:

Click on scanner
Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.
You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
Save the report to your desktop

Close Ewido

Next go to Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web > Uncheck "Security Info" if present.

Reboot back into Windows and click the Panda ActiveScan shortcut.
- Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
- A new window will open...click the Check Now button
- Enter your Country
- Enter your State/Province
- Enter your e-mail address and click send
- Select either Home User or Company
- Click the big Scan Now button
- If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
- It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
- When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
- When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.
Post the contents of the Panda scan report, along with a new HijackThis Log, the contents of smitfiles.txt and the Ewido Log by using Add Reply.
Let us know if any problems persist.

Little eagle- sorry for the delay- I followed your instructions- Panda identified what I think is the main culprit- the hesvc file but now i just need to get your advice on how to get rid of it! I think smirem got rid of the .dll problem- or so it seems from my scanning of the log.

Follow the process tree. Right click on the file and go to Properties.
Then go to the Version tab to see what company name it's from:
