There is this file out there that I think is spyware and I scheduled it for deleted next time it rebooted but it came back:

O20 - Winlogon Notify: Shell Extentions - C:\WINXP\system32\wNvemsp.dll

Help please! I have tried 5 different spyware tools, two different anti-virus tools, scanned in normal mode and safe mode . . .

Hi, thanks for your assistance. I have already ran every scanner I can get my hands on including spybot and ad-ware. I've ran them in regular mode and safe mode. I was successful in getting rid of some of pop ups but adware keeps coming back. here is the log:

Download http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe by ShadowWar.

1. Save the file to your desktop

2. Double click l2mfix.exe

3. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts

4. Open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop

5. Double click l2mfix.bat

6. Select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter

7. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log.

8. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter. It will process then start. Your desktop and icons will disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, it will be ready for a reboot. Press any key to reboot. After the reboot notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so! Do Not run in safe mode!!
If after the reboot the log does not open double click on it in the l2mfix folder.

Tutorial here.

Reboot in safe mode. Close all Browser and Program Windows.
Have HijackThis fix the following. Do this by checking the box beside each and then clicking on Fix checked.

You may need to set you computer to show hidden files. Click here for Instructions.
Then click start>my computer>local disk
(then follow the path) or Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:
Delete the folder(s) listed
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VCClient

Reboot then Run 3S under “Items To Clear” tab place a checkmark in all of them but user defined folders.
Reboot and Rescan with HJT and post a new log here.
Also please describe how your computer behaves now.

Seems to be running well. Used to be a million pop-ups. At some point most of the pop ups went away but the spyware scanners kept finding spyware. I'd remove it and re-scan and nothing would be found the second time. But two days later, I'd scan again and it would be back. So far, so good at the moment. Thanks!!
