Hello Robert and welcome to TomCoyote forum. Have you received help elsewhere yet? If not, I need to make you aware that popups are the least of your problems. You have this worm onboard: http://www.trendmicr...=BKDR_SDBOT.GEN
as you can see depending on the attention this hacker has given your computer is the level of which your security and system are compromised. If you want help cleaning this up, my first suggestion is going to be to stay offline as much as possible to deny the hacker access until we get you clean. I will also need you to do this:

1) Move HJT from the Desktop for safety. I prefer C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe, if you need additional instructions use these: http://russelltexas....tehjtfolder.htm

2) Since several days have gone by, once you move HJT then post a fresh HJT log. I will be notified and start the cleanup process as soon as possible.

Thanks...pskelley

Thanks for the new log, some real nasties in it. Let's try this in the posted order. I suggest you read through the instructions first. It will make the fix easier if you know what is coming. You must have hidden files and folders enabled or you will not see this junk. You must use search companion to locate the trojan so you will know where it is when it comes time to delete it. Some of the 016 DPF files are bad, others are questionable. If we remove something you need, you will be prompted to download it fresh the next time you visit the site.

1) Download, update, configure and run these two programs: http://tomcoyote.org/aawsb.php
The newest version of Ad-aware is 1.06 and Spybot 1.04. Even if you have these programs, use the link to get the newest version, update and configure them as in the link. Run Spybot first, reboot then run Ad-aware. Both programs back up what they remove so delete anything the programs say should be removed.

2) Open ewido and update the programs, wait until it is finished. Choose scanner then complete system scan. Allow ewido to run and delete everything it locates unless you know it is not bad. Save the scan report, I must see it.

3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Enable hidden files&folders..reverse the process when finished.
http://www.xtra.co.n...1916458,00.html

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

sysweb.exe >>> file (you will have to search for this one, this is the trojan)

C:\Program Files\Ibzxgea\ >>> folder

C:\PROGRAM FILES~1\Jalmp\ >>> folder

C:\WINDOWS\system32\irssyncd.exe >>> file

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\dwdsregt.exe >>> file

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\twinlsap.exe >>> file

C:\Windows\Prefetch\ >>> delete everything in this folder (NOT THE FOLDER)
Prefetch info: http://www.windowsne...refetch-XP.html

If you don't have a good cleaner, use this one with these instuctions:
Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Review the instructions http://www.ccleaner.com/help/tour1.asp
Run CCleaner, Windows & Applications when you run the registry cleaner (Issues) you will be prompted to backup before you can remove stuff, make sure you do.

Restart the computer and post the ewido scan results, a new HJT log and any comments you think I should have.

Thanks...Phil

Ok....I completed all of the tasks you have requested. I did a search (including hidden files and folders) starting from c:\ and never found sysweb.exe anywhere. I also couldn't find c:\program files~1\Jalmp or .....dwdsregt.exe or ......twinlsp.exe. Hopefully the other programs deleted them. Internet Explorer pages come up much quicker.....but rebooting and starting up windows is still very slow. Hopefully we got what ever was causing the problem.

Thanks......

Good morning Robert (EST 5:32AM) I often overkill this stuff, earlier processs like ewido, even HJT remove it but I still do a look for the file/folder to be sure. Your HJT log appear clean of malware  and that gets you this valuable information. Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
http://boards.cexx.o...topic.php?t=957

ewido anti-malware - Scan report Created on: 11:28:35 PM, 2/9/2006

Looks like you and ewido were able to delete everything located, here is some information to help you stop those bad cookies if you wish:
http://www.mvps.org/...002/cookies.htm
http://www.microsoft...acy/config.mspx

Ewido is a great program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

Purging the Prefetch information will slow you down until Windows repopulate the folder with needed information. You should be back to normal after a few boots.

Here is some information that will help even more when time permits:
http://www.microsoft...s/IEtopten.mspx
http://vlaurie.com/c...s/runbetter.htm
http://www.linkgrind...rs_article.html

System Restore does not know good from bad, it backs up everything. In case some of the infection got into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, restart your computer and turn it back on.
http://service1.syma...src=sec_doc_nam

The post will remain open for a couple of days in case you have comments or questions. Safe surfing...Phil :wavey:

Thanks...pskelley

The computer you helped me fix was the "kids" computer. I was wondering if you can check my computer as well. My computer runs ok, but you never know if there might be a virus on it.

Thanks.
Robert

p.s. you stay you very late....when do you sleep? (I thought I stayed up late when I went to bed at 2am PST)

Ah Robert :) what will I do with you. You must know this is not protocol with all of the folks waiting for help. Whatever will I do if my boss finds out and fires me :(

OK..let's look, help me out with some I do not know:

Remove these with HJT they are nasty adware, looks like Yahoo in bed with the enemy...imagine that
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapp.../search/ie.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com

If these are all valid, you have no other issues, the same good instructions for staying safe and clean applies to this computer also.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ResChangerXP] C:\Program Files\ResChanger XP\ResChangerXP.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [@BackupScheduler] C:\Program Files\Online Backup\OnlineBackup.exe
O8 - Extra context menu item: Download all by NetXfer - C:\Program Files\Xi\NetXfer\NXAddList.html
O8 - Extra context menu item: Download by NetXfer - C:\Program Files\Xi\NetXfer\NXAddLink.html
O8 - Extra context menu item: View Link Source - C:\windows\web\viewsource.html
O16 - DPF: Sametime JNI Loader ST30SP1 - http://chat.pristine...STJNILoader.cab

If you are in doubt of any of the above, remove them.

Safe surfing...Phil :wavey:

Great...that should do it.....I'm really grateful for your help. We are like sheep amongist wolfs. I would have had no idea of how to get rid of this without your help. I can't believe people spend their time writing these destructive programs. You figure with that kind of skill, they could write something productive. Well, thanks again.....and best wishes. Robert
