Having frequent trouble accessing internet (netzero). Occasionally seeing About:Blank when open internet window closes or freezes. Netzero software then become unavailable for a period of time (clicking on icon will not open program). Have current verisions of McAfee firewall/virus, Spy Ferret, and Spyware Doctor. Spy Ferret finds CWS and possible hijacker, unable to clean them off without them returning. Ran Hijack this, found several R1, R2 and R3 changing the proxy info. Clearing these helps but they return. Have run all scanning programs in safemode, with system restore off... problem returns. Forced to uninstall netzero and reinstall... works first time then problem returns.
Posting Hijack this current file showing R1 proxy changes that I am concerned about:

At this point I have NOT run a scan with spyware Dr. after reinstalling, but did turn on immunization. Currently, I am reaching the internet, but expect that as soon as I log off again I will not be able to without uninstalling netzero and reinstalling again as has been the case. I have tried everything they suggest without success, including installing new modem driver. Thanks for any help you can provide!!!!

Thank you Little Eagle. So far today and yesterday, things have been working fine (go figure!) I ran hijack as you suggested. I did one scan before doing any fixing, shown below (note that the R1 with proxy 127.0.0.1 was no longer listed... perhaps some of my other changes were starting to hold? I had also since run a Spyware Dr scan and had clearned a few items it found. Also note that there were several other R1's added since my previous scan).

So far, everything has been running fine (first time in over a month)... like I said, go figure! Can you tell me what you suspect was going on so I can watch for it? Regardless, THANK YOU for your assistance. If I run into problems again, should I post back to this or do another new post? I figure if it is going to give me trouble it should be in the next time or two that I try to access the internet... that has been the pattern. Thanks!
Greg

Little Eagle, Problems still continue, though not as defiante to my fixes as before, so far. Was able to hit the internet about 4 or 5 times before I encountered problems (was not loading page). I went to internet proxy info and found that site 12.0.0.1 was set up again, instead of Localhost as is needed for netzero. Ran hijack and found R1 proxy changes (12.0.0.1) as well as the 'ol proxy redirect that I have described before. Was able to change proxy back to localhost and deleted stuff in hijack file and got on without having to remove and reinstall netzero software. Are there other things I can try to locate what is making these changes? Thanks! I do have spybot, spyware Dr, spy ferret and a McAfee firewall, all current. Greg

Flush any DNS caches you have control over. Two examples are routers that act as proxy nameservers, and versions of Windows that support DNS caching. The way to fix the router cache is to power cycle the router. The way to fix XP/Win2K's is to enter the command "ipconfig /flushdns" at a cmd.exe prompt. Click start > all programs >accessories >command prompt and type in "ipconfig /flushdns" <<<with out the quotes
