If you still need help and haven't posted at another forum, post another log from hijackthis. I will get to it as soon as I can.

Also updating and scanning with Spybot and Ad-aware would be a good idea.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Spybot S&D lets you kill the 04's, the startups. Start Spybot click mode at the top left,
make sure that advanced mode is checked. Then click on tools on the lower left.
Then system startup, to the right is a double arrow bar click it to expand.
Now clicking on a value you will get a description of the command line. Removing the green
check mark will stop the startup, should you decide that you need or want it back just
replace the check mark. Restarting your PC will complete the change.
Remove the check marks from the ones listed below.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Synchronization Manager] mobsync.exe /logon
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SymTray - Norton SystemWorks] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Symtray.exe SetReg
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DU Meter] C:\DU Meter\DUMeter.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HPAIO_PrintFolderMgr] C:\Temp\W2k\hpoopm07.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [SymTray - Norton SystemWorks] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Symtrdr.exe
O4 - Global Startup: HPAiODevice(hp psc 700 series) - 1.lnk = C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\AiO\hp psc 700 series\Bin\hpobrt07.exe

Reboot Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we will take another look.

Eagle,
Ok ran both progs as you suggested and removed what you suggested from startup with exception of
DUmeter.
Still boots slow and runs the same.
Thanks for your help. I may just have to format C drive and install xp-pro. better system anyway and I have it available. Just trying to avoid the hassel but nothing seems to work.
Here is the latest hijack log:

Norton does use alot of resources. You might try removing it and installing AVG antivirus.

It is still running and booting slow. I have tried everything and now I am ready to just format 2000 and install xp-pro since I have the disk. I have saved all the info I need and have run a ghost copy of my current drive in case I need it. Thanks for your help anyway but nothing seems to help and I should change to xp anyway so while it is a pain to do , it is nbothing I havent done before.
