Welcome to the forum.

Please move HJT.exe into a folder so backups can be made and found:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\HJT\HijackThis.exe

Close ALL programs down, leaving ONLY HijackThis running - Click Scan and.....
Place a check against the following items:

O2 - BHO: bitlocker - {01EB5130-FC0C-4d75-B9CE-4801B1B854F5} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\nso6.dll
O16 - DPF: {9AC54695-69A4-46F1-BE10-10C74F9520D5} - http://cabs.elitemed...s/mediaview.cab
O16 - DPF: {B0067CA5-2C37-4C6B-AAEC-5E2CE8635060} (FontSmoother Class) - http://www.qurancomp...tSmooth_New.cab

Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

Delete this file:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nso6.dll

Reboot and post a fresh HijackThis log and we'll take another look. MrC

I did exactly as I was told, the problem seems to have been resolved, here's my new hjt log.
But before that, if you look in Global Startup... BTTRAY.lnk= ?
Well I think i deleted that programme from the add/remove progammes in the control pannel.
Even before i joined this forum, i had attempted to cure this problem, but i learnt alot from the forum guidelines.
now i have all of them in a backup drive called E.
If you could guide me on how to get it back, i would appreciate so much.
Well, I would like to thank you guys in advance, you are doing a wonderfull job.
I wish i could donate myself, but here in Tanzania, we don't have the credit card system,
I will make a point to e-mail my cousin who is studying in toronto, to donate through his card.

The log looks OK. Good Job!

I'm not sure what you want to do here, what is it you want to get back?

But before that, if you look in Global Startup... BTTRAY.lnk= ?
Well I think i deleted that programme from the add/remove progammes in the control pannel.
Even before i joined this forum, i had attempted to cure this problem, but i learnt alot from the forum guidelines.
now i have all of them in a backup drive called E.
If you could guide me on how to get it back, i would appreciate so much.

Let me know,

MrC

I deleted the programme called "lnk" from the Add/Remove Programmes in the control Panel. I am not sure what it was, I haven't got any errors showing that a certain file is missing. Was it supposed to be an important programme? I thought first that I might have deleted something important, Please advise. I think it has something to do with bluetooth, coz it says BTTRAY.lnk I have the installation cd for the bluetooth device.

Here's what I found on it:

System tray icon which shows the status of a BlueTooth wireless module.

Do you still have one?

bttray.exe <---see if you have this file.

Let me know, MrC

well, i don't know. Whatever that means..... i have a bluetooth icon on the taskbar notification area. I think I get what you are trying to say, if there is a bluetooth device connected, it should show something. ??? lol now i'm confusing myself, let me see if it works. Nope didn't work. I also have the nokia pc suite installed. the nokia pc suite recognises my bluetooth device. I donno if that is significant information. Its not a BIG problem, I'm just curious as to why the " ? "

Thanks!

If you have any questions - please post back

I'll leave you with........

Some preventive maintenance:

------------------Must have or do:-----------------

Now that you're clean: <----Important Step!!!!
Delete your system restore files and create a new restore point:
(ME and XP users only)

XP system restore

ME system restore

Visit Windows Update and install all the lastest critical updates.

Install these two free programs, they sit in the backround and protect your system from spy and adware being installed on your system, also from your browser being hijacked.

SpywareBlaster Check for updates weekly.

SpywareGuard

IE-SPYAD
Puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone, so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
IE-SPYAD

Blocking Unwanted Parasites with a Hosts File

Need a free anti virus?
AVG*free
(check for updates - daily)

How about a firewall? The front door to your computer.
ZoneAlarm*free

Other free firewalls

Keep those temp files off your system use
CCleaner
Uncheck "Cookies" under "Internet Explorer".

IMPORTANT!!
Keep your Sun Java up-to-date
Download page
Delete ALL old versions from add/remove programs if listed!

----------Free malware removal programs:----------

SpyBot
AD-Aware
CW-Shredder

Ewido trojan scanner<---VERY GOOD! (XP and 2K only)

Please consider using FireFox instead of Internet Explorer

Pop-up stoppers:
GoogleToolBar
Pop-upStopperFree

Disable Windows MessengerXP - 2K (stops pop-up ads -etc):
Disabling Messenger Service in Windows XP
How to Remove Windows Messenger on Windows XP
How to Remove Windows Messenger on Windows XP
Shoot The Messenger

Don't open e-mail attachments without first scanning them with an up-to-date
anti virus program, even after doing that I would be very careful. Don't click on any executables in e-mails or any other links that you're not sure of.
Watch your surfing habits, don't click on or download anything you're not sure of. Don't install a program that hasn't been recommended by a reputable organization.

Good luck and thanks for using the forum - MrC
