Hello - I've got a friend's computer with a problem. It keeps popping up winfixer adware windows, and then all IE windows will go blank (about:blank). below is the Hijackthis log. ANY help is greatly appreciated. Thank you, and Happy New Year!

One thing i maybe should mention - i've downloaded and installed the newest versions of spybot 1.4, and adaware 1.06, and run those. i fixed everything i could find with those, and the problem still exists. Thank you! YB

Hello and welcome to TomCoyote forum. This is the Vundo trojan. I have been using a fix that is a little complex, but it worked if directions are followed. I have come upon a new fix that I have been told works but you are only the second person I have given it to so we will learn together. This is what I would like you to do.

1) Please start by downloading VirtumundoBegone http://secured2k.hom...mundoBeGone.exe and save it to your desktop. When you have done this doubleclick on VirtumundoBeGone.exe and follow the instructions. Do not worry if you see a BLUE SCREEN "Fatal Error" Message, it is normal and expected.

When it has finished, reboot and post the log that is created on your desktop called VBG.TXT in your next reply.

2) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Hey JB, I had about given up on you but luckily, the forum software does not drop you for 21 days. Let's take a look.

The only problem I see in this HJT log is this: C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03\bin\jusched.exe <<< Your Java program is out of date and that is a security issues. Start > Control Panel > Java > Update as soon as possible, since your log is clean, here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
